Congrats! I also live in CA and have a '77 GTB, passed smog on first try with no issues. Used Alfa of Tacoma to put all CA emissions back on the car after I purchased from fellow Fchatter. - Carlo and Lino were great to work with.
Patrick Ottis has a phenominal shop in SF bay area, but VERY busy so may have to wait a few months to get the work done.
Best money I ever spent - love the carbs, graet drives in the bay area. PM if you have any q's

A little later than mine, 21039, I'm always curious since mine does not have the exhaust cover. I'd love to know what car was the first to have it.

Well I was able to really drive it for the first time last night. It runs great. The AC and venting are non-existent so that will be looked into. Ferrari NE assured me it works so more to come.

Jeff, welcome and I do not envy you smoging the car. I have a 76 and went through HELL with the DMV. The second time I used Gary Bobileff in San Diego. It cost $$$ but well worth it. You can probably get an exemption on the thermoreactor muffler, if your car came with one? You will need to call Sacramento and talk with them about that, but remember, they are not your Friend. Good luck and enjoy.

    Your car looks great. :)

The muffler seems to be intact. It's only the equipment under the hood.

If the air injection tubes and nozzles are there but capped off, I would recommend taking them off and making sure they are not plugged.

I have a set of 308 carb air injection plugs I never used on my 77 308. Useful if you remove the air injection system, these plug the holes left open on the sides of the engine.

    PM me if interested.

Just found my box of extras, I have complete 2 pump air injection system. I pump is stuck and the check valves are bad. All the brackets, tubes, manifolds ect.. are good.

I ran 1 pump (new from Napa) and a stainless aftermarket muffler and passed the test.

Ok we had it on the lift today and it looks great. Here are the notes from my mechanic.

    --------

Here are some pics of the things I have noticed so far, Some gear oil leaks, nothing major, The leaking coolant hose, most likely just the clamp. The shim placement on the lower ball joints, which should be resolved before send to alignment to straighten out the steering wheel.
And a little bit of damage to the rear spoiler, nothing major and easily fixable by a body shop.
I was able to get the A/C functioning again after twisting the fuses.

For smog preparation, it will be easier to provide an estimate once I know what parts we are able to get and if anything needs to be made up. There are some vacuum leaks at the base gaskets of the carbs, so we should remove the carbs clean them out and go through them since we have 2 plugged idle jets and possibly more blockages in other circuits, and replace the base gaskets as well, this will all help with getting through the smog process and making sure the car is running right.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

And fashionable in 2015 as well. Lots of new BMWs around here in a similar color.

The '77 GTS club is even more exclusive. ;)
