It is the home of the CorkScrew:) I lost the ability to film due to accommodating a Discovery Channel film crew for a show called Daily Planet. It was a really fun day w Speedventures ReFuel at Laguna Seca. Here is a short video review with some good footage of the Car running the Corkscrew among other sections.

Leslie (aka 308gts79 on FC hailing from Hong Kong and SF) tracked us down in Los Gatos pre-race last Saturday and ran his December 1978 manufactured 308 GTS down to Los Gatos for a little coffee... and then of course the obligatory mountain summit run. Glad we had a couple passengers to capture the experience.

    Here is the video: https://youtu.be/rKAxuCI93FU

Cant wait for the next SpeedVentures event! Considering out novice track experience it was fun running a 3rd place w a 2:11 TT for a "first day on the track". Fun all around!

Alternative driver in bonus round was very receptive of the suspension drive train combo. It is a fantastic car for 38 years old!

Thanks! Been fun. Just got back from San Marino. The LaFerrari there was impressive. That high voltage orange wire in the motor bay is real familiar :)

Never put a dress on a gal until you figure out which shoes she will wear! This 1980 124 Fiat Spider is nothing like the 308 by any means but the forecast calls for nutty performance! Thought it worth sharing....... :) 40 kWh of recycled Tesla Battery Power and 2x HPEVS AC-34's to power it.

More 308 updates coming soon.... CNBC just filmed for 2 days producing a short documentary to be digitally included on a new 16 part series called Shift It is part of the Jay Leno's Garage media package.

Anyone know who is organizing this event in Monterey on Aug 18th?

"The Pacific Grove Wheels of the Future Showcase is the only Monterey Classic Car Week event to highlight and demonstrate the latest in alternative fuel cars, trucks, motorcycles, bikes, mopeds, and every other type of renewable energy transportation."

Wow, 40kW is a lot for a tiny car like that spyder. I imagine if you go easy on the go-fast pedal, the range would be pretty good.

Isn't that Fiat going to be quite a "tail-happy" car Hutch ?

Both worthy questions... 86 Hp vs 200+? Fastest beer run in Fiat history?

Troy just dropped 10 Telsa cels in a Bug on the floor between the axles and made seats over them.... and doubled down on suspension stiffness. Race rocket? Hell yeah. Stupid fast and like a train on rails! Stiff and purpose built. Love it... and it flat out destroyed the Type 1 trans on the first drive. Not the first time and and easy fix but fun even blowing the builders mind with torque!

As initially designed here, the 124 is not a track car.... but will be insaely fun to drive. Srings will be adjusted upon final load. 375 lbs replaces gas tank and spare while providing driving room for victims of James Bond destined for the desert. There will not be a lack of traction :).

Demonstrating total capacity in the 124 is a goal here without over pressing capacity (lots more room). 4 cells in rear seat in front of axle @44lbs per is good as we have the option to keep or reject rear seating for the .5 in life. A reasonable max, expandable if crazy for the right use, and really drivable. 140kWhrs should be good for 120-160 mile range. Well suited for daily driving.

Twin 34's will be a power house and the trans will handle the power.. We are cooking a classic year "A-Spark" model with twin AC-50's. That should raise a brow or two:).

Will post more updates as we progress. That Pininfarinin design is really nice and timeless. More pics to come.

I look forward to being in Monterey for Car Week. Expecting to arrive Monday night and be in town all week! Track us down for informal fun and for formal appearance dates, check out the the calendar here:

Find The Ferrari! - Electric GT

There is a new TBA local event with details coming out tomorrow: "PG Wheels of the Future" Thursday Aug 18 from 12 PM - 8 PM after the AM drive that is so popular with the street being closed and a cocktail hour 5-8 pm. It will be a pleasure to "offset" the new manufactures of "alternative" vehicles at this event with certain classics. The press release will come out tomorrow from the event with inclusion on the car week calendar shortly thereafter.

Look forward to seeing could rides, meeting friends, and enjoying all things cars and good living!

Courtesy of our friend Leslie here on FC, The Ferrari will participate in a drive around the Marin Headlands July 8 in the am with Ferrari Club members and the group of folks driving the world in electric cars in 80 days. Then off to Napa for wine and car discussion. Looks like it will be great experience and fun interaction.

--We just might have the Electric Spider joining its cousin at Concorso Italiano. Stay tuned.... Build to the wire as they say. No rest.

-- 40 kWhr in the Fiat with conservative foot pressure of 280watts p mile would get about 145 miles direct range. So fair to say average 115-160 range.... but I cant wait to test this one... Used the same motor package in the Maserati and it was a beast of metal and was still really quick. Venturing to bet the 375 lbs in the truck will be like having limited slip differential :). Should be a great driver. There is even room for a couple stiffs in the trunk still!

Here is a toy shot that conjures weekend activity for the 4th. Happy 4th all!

Thanks to Leslie and the local crew SFFC for inviting us and hosting.... Joe Henry etc. Thanks guys!

Had a great time and used the rest of the weekend to enjoy our tour of Sonoma!

Here are a few photos from the visit! Would love to do the Tahoe drive in Sept but we would want to swap into a Model S 60kwhr battery pack... We have engineering confirmation on fit and weight gain is negligible! Do you have a 60S Tesla Battery (12 mods) handy?? :)

Happy motoring! Monterey, Monterey, and More Monterey! Look forward to seeing everyone. EV West and Zelectric are coming too!

Looking forward to Monterey next week! Driving up Tuesday with the E-308 for a long awesome week of fun with friends and rides. Found a broken suspension weld cleaning up today :) Nothing a little welding, clean up and adjustments can't fix and the 308 is back in the game.... ripped the sway bar off the A-Arm..... whoops! Photos shortly. Weld was failing prior but nice to find and fix.

So this is a cool VW original..... lots of room to work or leave alone.... 64 E-Rat Rod VW. with 10 tesla modules below the seats it handles well. Even more interesting, 2 speed. high and low. It works forward or reverse via polarity switch. Need a pro to drive in reverse at 120 mph! We drive this around for fun and really get stuck talking to people seeing as the insides are totally exposed.

A simple issue to fix but goes to show how tight we are handling! Keeping the OEM roll bars that swap out in a few minutes so we can swap ride stiffness really easy. Cool to have the options Plus the weld was already on its way off as evidenced by rust inside the break zone... A little quick fab clean and weld! Back in Action and ready for Monterey.

Thanks Paps for the thumbs up on the VW E-Rat Rod.... Adding an VW E-Manx next.

Like the posted wheels.... easy to swap..... a few lug nuts but noting that 2 wheels came from a burned fire 360 (toasted) keeps to our goal of recycling the burned parts on the project ... straight enough to use.. a couple titanium rivets were unable to be removed......

So check out this 78 308 picked up that has been in the shop (barn) since the unfortunate demise of the owner in 89...... a little (+) TLC and its perfect. The Registration is still in the car with Dot matrix printer feed holes on the sides of the paper work.... Are we the old? Next project unless someone else wants to take it on...... but I am leaning to restore it as is. its complete and runs..... lots of rubber, belts, etc, in need of attention.

Cool to see the Wired UK write up! Thanks... Will note in the media log.... Road trip in 8 hours!

    Cheers,

    Hutch
