QA-1s are a popular damper retrofit.
There are quite a few threads on here about it and honestly, I don't follow them close enough to be able to point you to the most current information. There's one thread linked in the "DIY/Technical" sticky post, but I think part numbers and availability may require looking in some newer threads from the last few months.

Here are all the photos of the pulled motor. Anyone have any ideas what to do with it? Odometer reads 41.5k for what thats worth. Really don't want to put any effort into breaking it up unless there is good reason to do so but any advice and directions would be great.

Thanks for your time and help!

What can you tell about what caused it?
It looks like it burned in the V? Leaky carb or carb fuel hose?

Look slike it was a fuel leak on the right upper side of the engine compartment. Other than paint, rubber, glass. right side wires...... looks like it did not go too long.

330 ft*lb? Or 3300? Or 330 at the motor output shaft?
    IC engine 179 ft-lb * 3.23 first gear * 3.71 axle ratio = 2145 ft*lb drive torque

330 at the shaft. G50/05 transaxle.

    3.50 (1st) * 3.33 (final drive) * 330 lb/ft = 3846 lb/ft at the axle, at 0 RPM. Technically, it should be able to drive itself up a wall.

Here is the design concept for using three AC-50 electic motors to deliver worthy power. Two motors individually connected to the main shaft with its own tractor belt. Porsche G50 Transaxle upside down and backwards with a modified shortened nose.

    Wow. Moving fast. Good luck!

Big risk on upper right side of motor is the fuel return line to the right side fuel tank. It can leak on either end and the header is below it so...poof!

Parts are coming together and the build is getting close. Thanks to those people providing top notch help so far! A few early items in the door:

    * Gold Line Breaks in WA did a great job on the restoration of the OEM rear Calipers. Pictures below.

    * Nick dropped off the new Adjustable Coil Over's at SEMA last week......

    * And Dave at Bradford Powder Coating in San Diego did a great job on the 4 360 BBB factory modular fronts.....

Expecting the 308 back from Rocky's P&B shop soon.... It is going into the booth tomorrow.

Some initial powerful :) insights for my soon to be new every day driver!

    227 Kilowatt Output (3x 72.5 per AC50 motor)
    48 x 3.3 Volt Batteries delivering 158 nominal volts/voltage
    200 amp hour battery pack x 158 nv = 31.6 kilowatt hours (@32,000 100w light bulbs for 1 hour)
    Estimated Range: 320-330 watts/mile - 31.6kw/325 = 99 miles

Expecting to swap batteries within 3 years +/- to double range.

What are you doing for AC/Heat in the car? How will that affect range?

    1. - The Simple Answer: Yes and I will be putting heat (ceramic electric heater) into the car. Opting out of AC for now but it is an easy ad on. 5%-10% max consumption impact on range assuming both AC/Heat are installed. This is my current understanding.

    2. The Thought: This is going to be my San Diego area daily driver. The initial range/mileage will be limited to @100 miles +/-20 subject to driving conditions and power use (presuming no interim day time charges (note there are lots of Blink stations with "preferred" parking spaces spread around SD). Coastal living and the T top negate immediate need for AC but there will be a small spot and tie into the system to put the compact unit. Electric AC's are readily made and in use. Also keeping the car as light as possible in order to come in under factory curb weight.

    Nice looking ride Tillman!

removing the front rotors proved a little more fun than expected... heat, and a good pounding with lugs and a board.... long time without maintenance! Repacked front hubs and they looked good with exception to replace inner bearing seal. Thanks to GT Parts in AZ. that was easy and they had the Stake nuts and a washer that managed to not come out clean. Here they are repacked, cleaned the steel as with wire brush till the cows came home and then treated any remaining rust. Ready to prime, paint and put into the ready to build pile!

Back hub on fire side proved to be in need of repacking..... way to stiff and noisy..... freed the lock nut and looks like we will be ordering seals tomorrow and repacking right rear too.

308 coming back on this Weds am...... Will post rebuild of rear hub and final picks of front spindles soon.

Also, note the A - Arm after a double sandblast, double dip, and then powder coat aluminum color with a clear coat...... Great job by Bradford PC in SD. Well, I did have to see what else it was good for around the house and a micro brew fits nicely on one of the from arms!

Just started the Instagram posts so there will be daily updates there.... can find at "Electric Ferrari". The build is about to gain some "visible" momentum!!! Stay tuned and always look forward to feedback and input!

Looks great! Arms were black originally...not that it likely matters since you are doing heart transplant anyway! ; )

Really awesome - good luck as you work towards completion!

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

308 GTS soon to be GTE is back in the shop. We picked up 3 motors and controllers from our friends at HPEVS in Ontario in person! They went overboard in customizing the motors: Powder Coated the 3 AC-50 Motors Red and then went further and polished the aluminum yielding a Ferrari worthy product! Aasco Motor Sports sent us a custom billeted aluminum Flywheel without the timing wheel... total weight 9.95 lbs. Perfect fit with the Pressure plate and clutch we are using on the G50 custom made short-nose transmission.

Call out the the guy who is going into Engineering madness to make this happen...... Can we get it into the San Diego Car show by Dec 27? Thanks for all your great work Mike Bream at EV West. Genius in action....

Now that it is back int he sop there is serious focus. Master Brake Cylinder, Pedal box, and vacuum box are now out. We we're thinking about options but decided to loose the weight and go "racing" style. With the New GiroDisc's and regenerative braking, we don't need the with.... and it is not a light package installed! Nice but with the right system, manual brakes and clutch will be insane without the "baggage"!

Pedal block and assembly TBD but we won't fail you! I am currently arguing with the committee but will likely loose...... but stay tuned! I must confess that there is a lot of new room to work with now without the brake system being removed.......

OK so that is the first time the three custom HPEVSA motor triple has been close to their new home.... Damn fine job of custom powder coating and aluminum polish on the the Aluminum end plates. That is a first and don't expect to get it without a lot of begging, pleading, and showing up in person to meet the team at HVEPS in Ontario CA. WOW. It is a Ferrari worthy heart transplant. (Lets not discuss the $0 maintenance cost!!! - brakes and tires :))

The frame and body less the cart is just under 1,000 lbs prebuild .... about 980 lbs as pictured. We will weigh everything as it is installed to document additions. Still aiming to be sub Factory Curb Weight.

Here are some inside pictures pre-build. Ripped of all rust, useless brackets, and about any wire that is not part of the project. Not saying its going to be easy but lets talk fun! Open invite to our shop in San Diego if anyone wants to stop by to visit! Drive your 308. We want to see any 308 at the shop. We love cars all cars (hint - especially Classic Ferrari's)...

There is no way without sleep to make the San Diego Car show but someone is trying..... :)

LOVE this build! Please keep the thread going, you are doing a fantastic job. Those Ferrari-ized motors are perfect, and I hope they are on display when they are mounted, way too slick to keep them hidden. Nice job.
