I am looking for a water pump housing for my 78' 308. The piece that corroded is supposed to unscrew and be replaced but mine looks welded and a disaster. I bought the piece before I even looked at it. I need a new water pump housing. Any thoughts?

Its hard to tell from one photo but presuming that is aluminum, you could have the corroded part cut off and a piece of aluminum tubing TIG welded on. It might cost less than a new housing if this is all that is wrong with yours.

Hopefully this weekend I will take housing off and drill out water unions and thread and fit brass fittings.

That's the one I bought. I am planning on using it. Hopefully I can get the old one out and not have to oversize the thread. If I have to go bigger I will use brass.

Housing fixed. The unions couldn't be used. Had to drill them out because of corrosion. Had to tap. Thread and resize. Purchased brass fittings and screwed them in. [IMG][IMG]
