    All,
Is the ignition system on this model typically a weak point? I have read a number of threads that mention aftermarket ignitions being installed. Mine is stock, and does seem to be a bit off.

    Joe,
the dinoplexe ignition box mounted on the hood, right side, is a trouble spot.
Jumping the car can blow them. Electrical spikes blow them, Heat blows them, etc, etc.

I don't actually have that on my car... It's just two coils, two distributors. And I think all are original, i.e. 28 years old.

Pertronics makes a system that will replace your points. Only available in ignitor 1. Not enough room for ignitor 2's unfortunately. The pointless system is for the Marelli S 138 B which is what I have on my 365 GT4 2+2. Pertronics p/n is MR1121. Price I was quoted through a pertronics dealer was $249.00. He did not know if that was for one distributor or both. He assumed it was both, but who knows. Low production F car parts. You know the drill. I haven't decided on my ignition as my motor is out going through a complete rebuild. Good luck
    Rick
