Anybody out there know what this yellow light is for on my dash? Want to make sure I am not missing anything. I thought maybe it was for the engine lid (which has a button-switch I am assuming to indicate closed in the driver side rear corner), but that does not seem to be it. By the way, does anyone know what the engine cover switch is for? Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
DH The yellow light is to let you know the choke is activated. The switch on the engine lid turns on the engine bay lamp IF, and only if, the headlights are on. Jonathan Denver, CO the FiatRN
Thanks a lot for the info. This brings up another question - where is the engine bay lamp? I am pretty sure I have been in every nook and cranny of the engine bay, and have not seen it. Thanks
You need to download the owners manual from somewhere, it will show you where and what these things are. Just search for 'download manuals'. You can download parts and repair manuals from my site: http://dino308gt4.com
Thanks - I had downloaded all of the manuals (owner and overhaul), plus the parts catalogue, but apparently not read them with enough detail. There seems to be no 1979 owners manuals anywhere to be bought or downloaded. Anyway, I opened the engine cover with the headlights on, and guess what - there IS a lamp in there! I only found it because it works - that sucker is HIDDEN. I did a lot of work in that area replacing fuel hoses last Spring and never saw it. Thanks!
I also checked my choke indicator lamp. It works, too. I'm going to get a Lotto ticket... I have never used the choke before, which is why I had never seen that lamp on, I start it up, back it out, and drive off reasonably slowly until things warm up...
