The last [in good condition] Merak SS that I am aware of sold in January [or was that February] at the Arizona Auction for around 45K USD.

    Ciao,

There is a very nice Merak for sale on EBay. Outstanding set of photographs, beautifully done.

Wow that is the highest price I've ever seen, not that I follow them all that much. Every car as complex as that is expensive to restore so ... their probably underwater if they did it right.

    Beautiful images.

It's incredible to me that they took all the time and money to do such a thorough restoration, yet left the US "chewing gum" bumpers in place. Why?

    Two things.

Not everyone thinks they're so terrible, the Khamsin's and Espada's are far worse.

It's an original car that's been cleaned up really well it and prepped for sale at the market's peak it would appear. This is a lot cheaper and it looks good enough to have caught peoples eyes hasn't it?

I bet it goes to Europe and then gets converted their.

A proper US to EU conversion, with all original parts, costs around 15,000 euros or more depending on the final repaint cost. So that is quite considerable to spend on a car that is to be sold for profit. I've seen very few (only 2) cars that had proper conversion done to them, most others are plain awful or half-finished.

This particular car is rather wonderful, in Argento exterior colour and an impressive blue-black leather interior. It is a non-citroen car with the Bora dashboard.

There are some incredible Meraks out there. You will start seeing more and more of them as time goes on. Considering the production numbers, the Merak remains a rare one.

Actually, the 70 k is just the starting bid- won't reach reserve at that price.

Om their website, it says their asking price is almost 90K

Does anyone see much obvious that isn't "all original"?
