    Hello fellow F-chatters,

    Just wondering,

Back in 1979 (for a 308 GTB) did Ferrari use a specific color "primer" or even another color paint before the final paint color stage? Also, is there a code on the vehicle that would tie in the O.E. (origional) exterior color with the interior color?

    Thanks, Chris.

On a 79 308 the primer under the finish color would have been yellow.
The exterior color code is on the rear bonnet, visible when opened.

Thanks for your reply, it makes sense!!!

What are your thoughts on Ferrari's quality control?

Especially in 1979, I've seen a few interesting things........

    Thanks, Chris.

The quality sucks compared to todays standards. Lots of potential for rust because of the way things are put together. More thought and care during assy would have prolonged the lives of these cars. Tons and tons of bondo and lead as well right from Modena.

I hate to say it because I love these cars, but man, I've seen all kinds of weird stuff, i.e., some screws left out, paint drips under the door (inside under), overspray, etc. All appear to be from factory.
