First let me introduce Steve: aka IDOC and his gorgeous low-mileage 1979 Silver 308GTB. He's had it since May. For those of you not in the know, that's the last year for 308 carburators.

I've always read carbed cars are something special, and one of the major decisions to picking a 308. But having a fuel injected model, I poo-pooed it away.

    WRONG!

    WOW!

    What an incredible sound!
stock exhaust, no cats and carbs. I LOVE IT! Actually, I think I like it more than my QV! The burble of the carbs at idle, the gentle popping from deceleration.

OK, two 308'ers had to drive each other's cars.

Steve thinks the QV is a softer, more civilized ride (can that be said of a 308???).

I think his carbed car is more agile, a shorter shift stroke, and you feel the road through the body more. Yes, the passenger side sounds better too.

I'd say the power range is about the same.

He took me through his local roads above Sleepy hollow NY right next to the Hudson.

Guys, some great driving roads up there!!!!!!!!!!!!! Incredible vistas of the Hudson.

So a special thanks to Steve for having me to his table and allowing me to enjoy the wonderful drive of his carbed '79 308GTB.

If I were to do it again, I'd go carbed!

Oh, Steve's wife isn't all that enthralled about his Ferrari. However, he's sure she'd warm up big-time to join us for a NYC dinner. Anybody up for one of our old-style pillgrimages to the city for dinner, beverage, and possible dance?

As with anything, there's good news & bad news.

Good news....The grease in the motor/worm gears was like epoxy rather than grease & was the culprit for slow operation.

The bad news: the wire spool got away from us while cleaning & unwound so it took many hours of futzing until we got it very close to correct. The window goes up & down much better, but we called it a day even with a slight binding in the cable. Another day's project.

Good News: the door & panels went back together with no problems. Everything lined up, matched, etc.

Good News: Steve's absolutely hooked on his Ferrari. I think I saw slight withdrawl symptoms when he was so close to the car but couldn't drive it :D

Well, I was going to wait till I got to work so I could upload my pics but Clyde beat me to it. I want to give a big thanks to Clyde. He came to my house twice all the way from NJ to help me with the windows. Clyde is a great guy and just meeting him makes me glad I joined this board. As a matter of fact I vote for Clyde to be NYTS FChatter of the year! Not many people would be as generous with their time, he his truly one of the few really nice people I have met. We had a nice dinner after, and I invite anyone who wants to get together and show and talk ferrari's to come on over. Thanks again Clyde, and anytime I can help you just holla.

Well, if nothing else, I plan to set up another one of our Soho 323 nights at the beginning of September, and if you're interested, we can do a real dinner beforehand. Will keep you all posted.

My friend also opened a bar in the Meat Packing district and I'm trying to convince him to close off Little West 12th Street for us one of these days to have a real blowout party. Will keep you posted on this front too.

Hi, they sound great, count me in on the get together this sept. and also let me know your boy's bar and I'll patronize it and send my clubbing che chee freinds over too...w12th street would be ideal for the F-car display..the cobble stones are hell for the undercarraige but they look very european in pics with a ferrari parked on cobblestone streets
