I'm not affiliated with the seller at all, a friend sent this to me and it seemed like a decent deal. 19,000 miles, new belts 4,000 miles ago, $24,995.

If anyone wants me to stop by and take a closer look, let me know, I should be able to next week sometime.

black/black is nice. but the price seems a bit low from a dealer for a car with 19k miles. i wonder how long ago the major was done.

4K-miles can be a lot of years...

and IIRC it is the slowest of the 308s??? correct?

how much of the emissions junk can be pulled off?

    LOL!

1980 isn't the most desirable year, but at a reasonable price, it's still a 308 and could be a great car if its in decent shape. And it's BLACK!

Would that be because of the oil consumption issues some of them had??

Looks clean. Worth looking at for someone in the market.

All 308s are slow compared to modern cars, but they are fun to drive on back roads where you're still going to be shifting from 2-3 and 3-2 all the time...

No, the 2-valve injected cars (1980-1982) had the least HP.

I stopped by after work yesterday - the car wasn't there but the owner was. He's a mechanic at the place that had it listed for sale. He clarified some things that were wrong in the ad.

The car is actually black with red interior. It has about 19,000 miles, odo was replaced at 4,000 miles, which he has records for. He has owned the car for about 15 years. Belt service was done about 4,000 miles ago, 4 years he figures. He's a mechanic, so he has done quite a bit of the work himself. His cousin owns Reina Motors here in WI, so they did some of the work.

He says the car is in good shape, no rust, seats have some patina but no cracking or tears. Car starts and runs well. 2nd and 3rd gear syncros need to be done, other than that it's in good mechanical shape.

The guy seems like a straight shooter, he knows the car inside and out. He's only selling because he has 3 kids and is going to buy a Mondial cab. Price is negotiable.

I have his cell phone number, if anyone wants to talk to him directly or wants me to get a look at the car, let me know. He gave me an address, was willing to take me out in it and let me check it out. Don't bother with CU Fleet, the gal that put up the ad didn't seem to know much about it, plus she didn't even bother to get the ad right.

Guys I spoke to the owner and the car is and it is what it says 19K miles very clean, 4 new strut, interior excelent shape, BUT what he told me that did not include the ifo is that it needs 2nd, 3rd syncro ring. Anyway just want to share this with you.

You'd have to double-clutch it, or skip 3rd gear until the gearbox was done, but that's definitely doable. Want his cell #?

Why would the 2nd and 3rd gear synchro's be shot at 19,000 miles? 119,000 miles, would make more sense...

Thats probably a $5000 gearbox rebuild and 4,000$ for the major...

Good question - I asked him if he was sure it was the syncros, thinking it could just be typical shift linkage problems, he said he was sure it was syncros. Beats me, unless the 1st owner abused it.
