On eBay right now: 1980 sn 33933 September 1980 build without a clock in the center where the oil temp gauge is located?? Never saw this in my life!

Vague history. Non original speedometer, repainted.

Not sure why someone would remove the clock and cover the hole but I seriously doubt it left the factory that way.

Well, the 308 design is 'Timeless".

GTS instead of GTSi on back, lights reversed and rear defog switch moved on the center console.

Someone wanted their 308 to be just a little different, I suppose

Not that unusual, we have a 1980 308 injected that is badged GTS on both rear and fuse panel cover. Center console is funky too, the clock was added on in it's own separate little box above. I seem to recall that the switches are different too. I think that there is some goofiness during the switch between carb'd and injected 308's heading to the states, my guess at least.

I think most of the 80 models had the GTS on the fuse panel cover instead of GTSi, or at least most of the ones I have seen.

I always assumed it was to just use up the rest of what they had left over from the back of the carbed cars to put on the inside only. Obviously "i" had to go on the outside.

    But I'm just guessing.

But for the factory to not bother with a clock - when obviously the wiring is there for it on that particular harness AND to saw a hole for the defog switch on a completely different spot is just weird. But it would be weird for a customer to bother with that as well vs leaving it alone.

    Oh well.

Those clocks will kill a battery if you don't put a tender on it and drive it infrequently.
