Stumbled upon this listing and per the owner, this convertible conversion has been given plenty of attention in order to warrant the $100K asking price as indicated in the link below:

I have never seen one with this much woodwork in the interior which makes it matter of personal taste, obviously. I do recall another forum member returning a convertible he bought on eBay a couple of months ago (sans delivery of same), so perhaps he could look into this one instead.

I was not able to upload more than the single picture below based on the Hemmings website and my limited computer skills - Sam?

Strong asking, I hope they get it! It looks beautiful on the outside, but the wood would not really be my first choice. To each their own!

I love it in grey, keep the wood and Straman's work.
Seller's prose and name dropping won't get him that price.

Why didn't he get a Rolls Royce if he wanted all that gaudy wood trim everywhere? He should actually join our rolls royce vs 400i thread!

I though this looked 400i looked familiar, I looked thru old downloaded photos and came across a bunch of photos of what I am sure is the same car (how many 400i's have this kind of wood work). The photos where taken in a parking lot and the 400i was for sale asking 40K about 2 years ago.

I am a past owner of this car, as I can confirm by the chassis number. I bought the car in 1988 from a Porsche dealer in Pittsburgh. I sold it via eBay Motors around 2014 to a guy from Chicago named Bruce(?), as I recall. The Porsche dealer didn't have any past paperwork for the car. He said that the owner just before me had it but couldn't find it. I was told that the original owner bought the car new in late 1980. They had the convertible conversion and woodwork done very shortly thereafter. Around 1982 the car was sold to a car museum in Japan, where it stayed indoors and maintained, for about 4 years. A guy from Pittsburgh then bought it and had it re-imported. He had it for about 2 years before trading it on a Porsche. That's when I bought it. If I can figure out how to transfer my files to my laptop, I''ll post the pictures I have.
