    Good day All,

Just adding documentation on Chassis 37055

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1981-ferrari-512-bb-2/

The auction was a no sale with a Max Bid of $281K USD

There has been a few other posts about 37055, but felt a specific thread would be best to capture the car's information, etc.

BB looks great in silver. I acquired 21171 in 1985 in Ancona for 50 million Lire…..about $20k. Stupidly painted it resale red. Properly brought back to silver and beautifully restored by a fellow FCHAT member. Hats off to him!!!

    Good day SCantera,

I fully agree that BB's look simply stunning in Silver... almost like a space craft or stealth fighter!

As for resell red... sadly, a lot of cars received this treatment, mine included. At some point I will return mine back to its original color of Rosso Dino.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    Good day All,

Just a FYI that chassis 37055 has been relisted on BaT:

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1981-ferrari-512-bb-2-2/

The car presents well and combined with the recent services, looks to be a very nice driver level car with a few items perhaps needing some attention over time (e.g. suspension bushings are showing signs of cracking, dash leather, etc). I was surprised about the choice to use Magnaflow as the exhaust, however, it does sound pretty good in the videos.

It will be an interesting auction to watch...although given the upcoming Monterey auctions, I am unsure about the auction timing, as the audience may be away and/or unavailable.

    Cheers,

    Sam

    You are most welcome!

As for how well it will do...We will know in 6 days time. That said, the market, in general, appears to me to be a bit softer now than it was earlier this year... at least as far as f-car BaT sales go. This is by no means scientific nor a full representation of the market, but I have seen that BaT prices tend to be higher than other venues. Consequently, lower BaT prices does reflect a bit of a trend to me. Also, we are past the 1/2 portion of the driving season and so prices tend to soften in anticipation of the colder and Winter weather. Lastly, given the number of auctions in Monterey, etc over the next week or so I suspect that a lot of buyers will be preoccupied with these auctions along with the various events and so chassis's 37055 BaT auction may not get all the attention it would otherwise.

What always surprises me is that Boxers are truly magnificent cars and are overlooked and ignored by most. Given the average prices of driver level cars, they are bargains given what they provide.

    Cheers,

    Sam

A few years ago I bought BB 35411 when I was wasn’t looking for another Boxer. At the time I had a platinum Euro Dino I paid $200k for and watched them double.

But they restored and upgraded this Boxer to 471 hp and put it on the market $160k. How could I say no??

I since moved on from the Dino after taking the profit. Yeah…..people don’t get me but I was not in love with the 246 GTS. But when I get behind the wheel of Boxer the Dino doesn’t stand a chance. She is beast.

It is nostalgia for me to look at the invoices in this auction-- I remember Rich's handwriting on the RTGT invoices (Rich was the service manager there in the 1990s and a great guy), and then the invoice from ATD. I'm pretty sure this car was at ATD getting a major the same time they were doing a major on my Boxer, because I remember the one-owner aspect of it, and how pretty it was. That said, as I recall when they were doing that service, it had been sitting for a while.

    Good day All,

Just a FYI... Chassis sold for $245K USD on BaT today which is down a lot since earlier this year when the bids went as high as $281K. There were a couple of $300K+ BBis that sold last week in Monterey, but overall I am noticing a downward trend on Boxers... and a significant uptick on TRs... go figure. No love for the Boxers it seems :( ...

    Cheers,

    Sam
