I'm finally putting back together my 308. I'm not familiar with the 308 GTS/GTB and so I have a few questions. 1. It appears that the central area by the windscreen wipers and around the central bonnet aperture should be black? Should this be satin black, gloss or Matt finish? Also, I'm struggling to work out the exact area that needs to be masked up for the black area. Any ideas or better still photos? 2. Does the engine bay bulkhead have a EDPM foam/rubber shield similar to the Dinos? 3. Should there be a heat shield in the engine bay against the boot/ trunk bulkhead? 4. What was the finish on the metal heat shield above the exhaust box and boot underside? Polished? 5. I have a missing polished stainless/chrome drivers side (UK) door lock trim. Are these available or do I need to have one made? Or does anyone have one for sale? 6. I'm after one rubber targa latch protector. Any ideas where to get one from? Or do I have to silicone mould one up? 7. My black plastic ignition key surround trim looks a little tatty. Are these available? 8. I need a Ferrari sticker that was fitted to the battery cover lid? I presume this was original? Any ideas where to get one from? 9. Was a Ferrari Prancing horse badge fitted from the factory on the rear of my U.K. car or inside on the dash or consoles? 10. Should the pull release on the rear carpeted bulkhead have a plastic surround? Mine appears to be missing. I'm sure I'll need clarification on other areas at some point. Thanks in advance guys. Max
Hi Max I’ve just finished a 2 1/2 yr rebuild of my uk 81 GTSi. Lots and lots of good info on the forum if you search 1) yes satin black 2) not sure what you mean by bulkhead , foam seals radiator and 2 x foam strips on bonnet to seal radiator top tank and soars wheel tub 3) there is a heat shield that attaches above the muffler (under the car ) to panel the engine bay side of the trunk panel 4) mine was a Matt year proof silver/aluminium finish 5) mine didn’t have a door lock trim unless you’re referring to the snib button trim on the door card , if you are , no longer available, never seen one for sale, if you find some I’ll buy them from you 6) have a look at unobtaniumsupply.com (Verell on this forum is excellent and does great parts that are NLA or www.cicognani 7) yes superformance fir a couple of pounds -bargain ! 8) not aware of any sticker on the battery cover if you’re referring to the one under the spare tire 9) Prancing horse on rear of car LHS of number plate and one on ashtray lid for 81, no horse on dash Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Sorry and 10) yes there is a small plastic trim that sits between the “T” handle and the firewall Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Cheers! My car is actually a late carb model not 308i. 2. Bulkhead or the main wall between the engine and seats. 3. So is there two heat shields? One above the muffler and one on the trunk/engine wall? 5. On the carb model there is a horseshoe shaped polished trim around the door lock on the inside of the doors. 7. Superformance hasn't had them in stock for over a year and is not likely to. 8. Yes, on top of the battery cover under the spare wheel. I presume there is a sticker. Any ideas who sells them? 9. Chrome prancing horse badges for a UK carb 308 GTS model? Nternet photos show them in numerous locations! 10. What does the plastic trim on the T handle look like? Thanks Max
I’ll try and take some pics tomorrow to clarify some them unless someone else can jump in earlier Good website for reference re badge placement etc www.308-328.com Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat

I was wondering if his car could be one of the very, very late carbed UK GTS RHD with already a 17-Position VIN (on the chassis bar in the engine compartment) which is unique to carbed 308s (= only the late UK RHD cars, about a dozen or so, had one; the only carbed cars with a 17-position VIN) Rgds
I think, there is much more than a dozen. At least, I can count 43 vehicles as the first known (from me) full VIN is 30183 from November 79. I go back chassis by chassis the list of the RHD as soon as I can contact an owner, but that takes time...
