I found this Black/White 400i in NY. 33k miles. Anybody know this car at all? Thanks!
Do you mean white/black??? I can't imagine a white interior, but I guess someone might actually do that. Linen I can see on black, but WHITE??? That would get dirty in a real hurry! YUCK! When I think of colors I think of ext/int listings... Just trying to clarify, though I don't know the car either way... Best, James
well... take a look and see what you think.... this is another black one with white interiors... there are quite a few out there like this. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is a great color combo. The light interior looks really good. You just have to be very careful to keep it clean.
The color combo is very nice, not sure I would call it white, more bone-like. I don't like the pin stripe down the side, though. The photos are from Cannillo's website when it was for sale a couple of years ago. Aidan
Here's a Black/White '84 400iA that belonged to Bob Talgren (This photo taken at the 2004 Winter Park Concours d'Elegance that was put on by Bob Talgren and his wife). The interior in this car is to kill for. The leather is perfect and as supple as new. I believe the car is now in the DC area. WOW! I would call that Linen instead of white, but DAMN it looks GREAT!!! My '88 928 S4 is kind of like that... Dark Blue (nearly black in some light) with Linen interior, but it also has more black in the interior, I like these cars with more of the linen. They look AWESOME in that combination! Thanks for the pics guys! James
I think Stefano was showing the color combo. It is definitely a 412 in the photos, but the serial number in the title of the thread is not from 1982. We need more info about the actual car in question. Aidan
Definitely a 412: wheels, front parking lights all white, speakers in the left front dash, head rests just some of the keys. Can we get a clarification on the s/n seen by the OP? John
I showed a 412, and so did the next poster, I think, to show the color combo in a well maintained car as it was suggested that perhaps it might not be so attractive at first blush. The 400i I was looking at is in far worse condition. And I could not download the pics from the flash site, but I have some of the small images here... the dash, if you look closely, has also pulled away ( i understand a common occurence in the 400i, and the white air intake (?) on the hood is not actually its own. I have never seen the wood steering wheel, though it does look pretty great. At any rate, this is the car that i was wondering about.... I hope the pics come out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
the second image showing the cracked and relatively trashed white leather is a bitmap file and is not showing... oh well. Sorry.
Thanks, that helps a LOT. This car was advertised on EBay by Aventura Motors in Southampton last month with an asking price of $22,000. Some of the FChatters asked for and received some close up photos (check FChat archives and see for yourself) that showed some pretty significant rust bubbles all along the front quarter panels. Who is selling it, have you inspected the car in person and what do you think? John
You know, I had someone call up on my behalf for the 400 and they told him it was not in great condition. It is being held on consignment. I then tried to get info by email, but they only want to chat and I am not all that interested the more I hear about this particular 400i. I put the call in as they also have a Black and White 412 in great condition with all the appropriate documents. The dealership specializes in other luxury brands and don't know a whole lot about Ferraris from what I can tell. As for the 412: "This car has been federalized and is registered in the state of NY, and can be registered in any state in the US. The actual vin # is ZFFYD24B000063601". I dont know what that really means... but I presume it is not a legal car in the US? I will post a pic of the 412. here is the link to the 412: http://www.aventuramotors.com/vehicles.asp?section=vehicle&search=True&make=&type=&o=&otype=DESC&id=604&page=1&imgnum=1 Thanks a lot, I will look up the postings! Stefano, There are no US versions of 365 GT/4, 400, 400i, 412 cars. They all were imported by individuals, thus are reffered to as greymarket cars. The fact that the 412 has been federalised and registered likely means that the DOT and EPA paperwork is in order - this is a good thing. Regards, Art S.
Apparently 63601 has been for sale three times in the NY/NJ area since 2000: in June 2000, November 2002 and August 2005. Always described as "impeccably maintained" and showing 21,100 miles in the ad in Ferrari Club Bulletin in 2005. Asking price in 2002 was $44K. Don't have a price in 2005. The car will have exemption papers from the EPA and DOT if it was federalized for importation because, as the previous poster said, none of these cars were ever officially imported to the U.S. by Ferrari.
