A friend of mine gave me a Ferrari folder when he was cleaning out his library. It looks like it is from 1982 and it is written in French. It has a couple of pages description on each model (Mondial, 308, 400, 208 turbo) and also has about eight 8x10 glossy press photos tucked in a flap in the back.

Has anyone ever seen these type of things and are they rare or common? Just wondering because I had not seen one before.

If you have any info, please comment back.

( I have larger pic size if anyone wants to see more detail)

    Thanks
    Charlie

82 Paris Show press pack perhaps - there should be a print number 247/82 if so

    Yes, Correct
On the last page near the fold
    "Stampa ARBE - N. 247/82 - Printed in Italy - 0.5M/9/82"

OK, so we now know this was a Press Packet from the 1982 Paris Car Show.

    Next Question:
How many of these were given out and do many still survive?

    Thanks
    Charlie

Not common, but not rare......maybe move the thread to Collectibles for a better discussion, but it's fine here, too...

They end up on someone's shelf (if not used at the time for intended purpose) then tossed out years later....:D :D :D

That would be your potential market, someone that ended up owning one of the Ferraris.

    OK,
Thanks guys in helping me read the coding on the back page.
    So 500 units were printed.
Wasn't trying to sell it, but didn't want to toss it if it was rare or anything.
Maybe I will hold on to it or give it to someone that has a French 1982 model Ferrari.

    Thanks
    Charlie

Press packets are probably actually rarer today in hard copy than they were back then. Everything I get now is electronic. When I get something sent to me in hard copy, I tend to actually keep it! (I just keep filling drawers and filing cabinets.) Unfortunately, most of my favorite automakers (like Ferrari) send things electronically, and auto show material hardcopies are very limited (or non-existent.)

But that's a great find! I love comparing the press kits throughout the years. My personal favorite era for those things are the 1950s -- when creativity and affinity for motorsports converged.
