Is anyone aware of an '82 308GTS bodied in fiberglass? I am looking at one and considering purchasing it but I know that they were not supposed to be fiberglass at that point. The chassis number is ZFFAA02A2COO 40027. Any thoughts?

Looking online? Try tapping it. It won't be glass unless it's been rebodied. No GTS was glass anyway.

Highly doubtful, but there was one 328 bodied in aluminum, instead of steel.

Most likely some confusion over Importation Date of a Euro Car??

Toss a VIN out there, the 'glass cars were pretty much over, before my steel 1976 #20405.
Never say never, but if glass it's the wrong year.

If 1982 production, that is five years after the last glass cars.
As mentioned all the 1975, 76 glass cars were GTBs.

    GTS intro in 1978.

    You mean "try a magnet"??

Sorry, I see you DID post the VIN.

Turn on the Bat Light for Marcel Massini on this one, I fold my hand...

Someone pulled up the carpet and said, "Hey, look! This here Ferrari is fiberglass!"

And it is. At least the floor is.

Magnet not required. A tap of the finger is enough to know fibreglass from steel.

I remember drooling over that yellow aluminum 328 you reference when it was at LFSC and I was a teenager (may have been in my 20's, can't remember) !!! It had/has 288 GTO seats too.

Why do you think it's fiberglass?

im really looking for a 84/85 red/black; so i will keep looking.

Something is a little off here.

Ferrari never made a fiberglass GTS. 40027 is an 82 GTSi. That much we know and I can assure you that Ferrari absolutely never EVER made a fiberglass 308 anything then.

Without pictures I think you are looking at a car with some crazy fiberglass bodywork add on that was popular back in the day (Koenig etc.)

Under all that tacky crap you will find a steel car.

I've been talking with a fellow F-chatter about his '83 GTS QV red on black (red piping) that's for sale. Looks like a nice car, east coast car (NY). It's a little too far for me, but priced right.

If you're located around there, I can pass his info along to you. PM me if you're interested.

Yep, I remember seeing posts from the owner a few years back. He changed the stock convex wheels to an aftermarket set. Not sure if those are still on the car.

Sorry for the thread highjack! Just happened to find one of my all-time favorite cars referenced.

I doubt that fiberglass givaway at a glance wouldn't have been necessary on a GTS even if Ferrari made one.

It isn't a fiberglass car. There is no such animal. Doesn't exist.

    He is just simply mistaken.
