    Offered by DriverSource

    From their ad:

    VIN No. ZFFLA13B000044597

A Rare and Desirable Euro QV GTS
    Clean CarFax & AutoCheck Reports
Refreshing Argento over Nero Leather Upholstery
Complete Example Ideal for Light Restoration

This GTS QV is believed to have been sitting unused since 2001 (when the last PA registration was issued) and is a great example that will make for a great summer or fall project! Built in January of 1983 and imported by Grand Touring Leasing, finished in Argento over Black leather upholstery, this European delivery 308 GTS shows just 36,254 recoded miles and still retains all identification decals, plaques, Agip oil and Glasurit paint sticker.

Now available from recent long-term storage, this car is currently not running, but complete. 308s are becoming difficult to find as astute collectors are realizing their tremendous appeal and value. Here is an exciting find for someone looking for the right summer project.

Very nice color. Price is reasonable given the current market since the car needs work.

" Currently not running" can mean a lot of things,
As in " I lost the Keys" not running?
"I snapped a Belt" not running?
"I can't find a gas can and forgot where I parked it for 14 years" not running..:)

Generally, when a dealership posts something like that, it means that they have an idea of what's wrong, it's going to be expensive, and they're hoping the buyer will be stupid enough to think it just needs a tank of gas.

Agree. Even doing the majority of the work oneself, for free labor these sitting cars are $$$$$ to get on the road. More so than a running, driving car.

The ONLY benefit is know how sorted the car is and what the overall state of the car is when you are driving it, after having done most of the work.

$58k? Not yet. Not in the US, where most euro cars still have issues getting registered. $15-20k? maybe.

I used to buy them running and driving, but needing *everything* for that. But those days are gone I guess.

Just because its a 4v QV and it "might, maybe" not need a valve job right away.

Project 2v carb and injected cars have more liability if you open up the engine for a valve job. Many thousands of dollars will be consumed.

Ferrari board or not your dollars and time can be spent on other cars.

Guess its a good thing this goofy market is getting the hidden cars out of the barns and something will be done with them now.

Why do you say most Euro cars are having trouble getting registered. These cars are over 25 years old and are exempt from emission requirements. i didn't have any trouble 20 years ago.

25 year exemption and emissions are two very separate beasts in some states. California is a big market but is pretty much off limits to Euro cars because of emissions (pre-75 only), and I think there's other states that follow the same convention.

They parked next to my old #20405, at Driver's Source, and the grime rubbed off on this new car.

As far as registration goes, the answer is "it depends"...many days IF it has a good looking previous Title, the new one is "no big deal"...

BUT (with this modern car) the European VIN number will set off alarm bells in most registration systems, and at that point, you better turn on the charm, to get you away from the Tax Window!!

We talk often also about the original DOT import records, the Import Bond, DOT Certification, the refund of the posted Bond...That's all federal paperwork, it has nothing to do with your State at all, and the License Office or the Inspector for you safety Sticker, may or may not care.......

Texas uses the "25 years old" as a break point, not a hard line year standard, like California.

    No emiissions testing, after that.

WOW, $58k!?! I getting happier and happier with the price I paid for my 85 Euro every day! just registered mine this week and correct, all it needed was a safety inspection for $7. No emissions to worry about in TX. If only it was cheaper and I had extra money....

Euro cars are doing crazy money in Europe right now. I've been researching where to sell my car and it looks like i'll be shipping it overseas.

I saw this one today as well, and it says "complete" in the ad... but there is a picture of an empty spare tire holder, a picture showing no tail pipes???, and no tools of course. Whats up with the tail pipes? was that because somebody added a catalytic converter? Or are they just missing maybe? Seems incredibly over priced. But I like the color! And the wheels look different, those are metric I think, but the two tone gray looks different than I see on most wheels, educate me!

Why is it a joke? Values are strong right now. When I bought my car in January, it's a strong cond 3, low cond 2 car. Original, complete. I paid 65. Hagerty valuation of December 14 had it at 38.2 to 49.6. Current valuation on Hagerty, same range? 79.6 - 60.2. I have no doubt I could sell the car today for 85. Hagerty seems to lag the market by 20% at least.

Is 58 high for a non running car that seems to be missing some bits? Sure. It's not high by a ton. Hagerty values a cond 4 car (this car) at about 39.9. Add another 8 to get it to market - 47. It's at a dealer, so there's the next bit of markup (about 11 grand). For an 11 grand dealer premium, I'd at least ask for some of the parts to make it a whole car.

If I could, I'd walk over there, offer them 40 and then just push it home.
