Check with David Moore, (MOORESPEED) he may know about it.

Hmmmm...a boxer trim 308 with repainted euro spoiler, metric sized rims can be a challenge getting tires for, & The price seems kind of steep.

I hate to say it, but be careful! I recently found out that that place had several Ferraris listed for sale that they didn't own and that weren't actually for sale. I just talked to the owner of the cars they had listed and he didn't have a clue they were on their website. They were never for sale.

It's also the same place that tried to sell me a $25,000 308 for $45,000. Please...

That car is constantly left out in the sun and in all sorts of weather without cover. I've seen it on many bad occasions sitting in the middle of the lot. They only cover their 348 it seems. As Mike said, they don't have a great reputation from what I've heard. Just throwing this all out there so you can get a better idea of them. However, I'd be more than happy to go snap some pics or info if you'd like.

Thanks, i have sent a message to David Moore. Man, it seems more difficult to find good, clean 308s and 328s. The older I get, the more I like the older cars. If you don't mind swinging by and see if it worth my time to fly to Austin ( which i enjoy doing anyway) please let me know. If it looks rough, I will pass. Just checking all leads. THANKS,John

It is kind of like dating-when you are looking for a car ( or girlfriend) you can't find one that works. When you aren't looking ( or married) there are possibilities everywhere. My wife is laughing at me, aw if she only knew... she is really laughing now.
I guess I really did not want to sell the blue one when I did. Every night now, it has become my sons routine to grab my laptop and we scour the internet looking to see what came on the market in the last 24 hours. Keep me in mind if you hear of anything- i am getting tired of driving the Yugo to work.

Dr. John, I'm afraid I have no information about this car, nor can I help you check it out at the moment, but I did just post a separate thread inquiring about Ferraris in the Austin area for other reasons. You might look at that thread from time to time, perhaps some Austinite tifosi will identify themselves there.

    Good luck!

Not familiar with the car but I did stop by that place once to look at a 308. it was in really rough shape, interior was trashed and like was said, they leave most cars outside. If you're really interested, I could swing by to take a look-see.

There's also another outstanding exotic service facility in Austin that may be familiar with this car, Colvin Auto (www.colvinautomotive.com)

Mine was for sale for a while, but have decided to hang on to it for awhile.

Yes, I sold the blue one two weeks ago toa gentleman from Rockwall. The engine, suspension and air conditioner were perfect. It was my secomd 78 308 and it was by far the best one mechanically I had seen in a long time. I just could not get ued to the blue. It was perfect for a TCU alum but everytime I drove it I wanted to stop by and see about having it painted. I did not think it would be that difficult finding another one in a different color that would be mechanically as sound. Man, was I wrong.

    Got your email John,

Don't know the car as it has never been to our shop before. I have never seen it at a Ferrari Club function either.

I have seen it out in bad conditions as others stated too. Never bothered to stop and look though.

There are some really nice 308s and then there are some down right pathetic 308s in this town too.

Many of the 308s (almost all) that we see need lots of TLC now as they are getting quite old.

Almost all I've seen recently (unless we fixed them) need some or all of the following to make them tits:

    Shock bushings
    Steering bushing at right
    Shift Shaft seals
    Cam Seals
    Hoses, water and fuel
Warm Up regulator (on injected models) accelerator pump diaphrams on carb models
    Dash reupholstered
    Window motor/cable servicing
and then service items like belts and fluids

These cars are 30 years old and the rubber just doesn't hold out that long.

    Dear David,
Thank you so much. I have spoken with two gentlemen at Austin Motors this morning. They were very nice and informative but obviously unaware at the market value of 308s. Their car is a $28-30k car at best . It would be convenient for me to come to Austin and inspect and hopefully purchase a car, but I do not think their car will work. I do not mind paying $35-38 if the car is perfect, but this one is not. Please keep me in mind and if you run across a car you think I might be interested please drop me a line.
    Thanks a million,
    John

First post on the forum. I'm a long-time Ferrari admirer but forgive me as I'm a newbie in terms of technical knowledge about these cars. I am learning a lot from all of you. Thanks!

I actually just dropped by this place on N. Lamar recently. There were several Fcars there. I saw 2 308s. One 308QV with the white Boxer paint scheme and the other was solid white. Both looked pretty tired. The sad thing (since they are apparently stored outside) is the solid white one was missing the rear window!

There was a Mondial 3.2 I believe in red/tan that looked a little better off than the 308s. I also saw a red 308 with a black convertible top (?) and repainted 14" wheels. Looked like some sort of aftermarket work.

It definitely needs an interior restoration. The leather on the drivers seat had cracked and looks like it had been repaired with one of those DIY kits.
