After reading the thread about antenna drains, I checked, and mine was OK. While I was checking the drain, I noticed that the guide block for the convertible top RH fin tensioner extrusion, was not engaged in the tensioner track. A look at the other side showed that that guide block was disengaged also.

I removed the fin tensioner extrusions and the guide blocks. After a clean-up they appeared to be OK and the blocks slid easily in the tracks and did not have excessive clearance. At least one of the tensioner extrusions was not original. I can only assume that when the fin tensioners were replaced, the mechanic (axe murderer) did not realize that they were supposed to engage guide blocks that were hidden behind the trunk trim panels. The car has been repainted, so maybe it happened then. This also may be a contributor to the difficult top operation I’ve experienced.

I’m writing this up, to point out a component that would benefit from occasional lubrication (lithium grease?), and to ask if anyone else seen this mis-assembly?

    Thank you in advance.
