Reluctantly listing my Euro '83 Mondial QV Slicktop Coupe. I purchased the car from a mechanic in Southern California 2 years ago. I love the car, but I haven't really put any miles on it since I've owned it so I will be making room for some other cars I've got. $8k spent last year at the local Ferrari specialist shop Motion Products, Inc in Neenah WI. They went through the fuel system as well as some other smaller service and engine oil service. I do have some historical records for the car as well. The car runs fantastic, sounds great with the added Borla muffler and is a joy to drive. The car is originally silver, but the two tone scheme was added under my ownership. Some of the silver paint was refinished and the black bottom two tone was added for the Boxer paint scheme. I love the look and feel like it shrinks the Mondial's large body a bit. Period Gotti wheels are on the car with pretty much new General summer tires. The interior is largely very well preserved. The front seat bottoms were refinished at some point and look good. The dash looks like it was probably done at some point too. The upper door panels are warped a but, but I do have some replacements that come with the car. Custom checkered Coco brand mats were made for the car. Other interior enhancements include larger Hill Engineering shift knob and Hill Engineering shift gate. There are some oil leaks as expected and there is a push button ignition that the previous owner added for reliable starting. Just recently that push button switch seems to be acting up a bit so it will take some repeated pushes at times to start the car. I have not investigated this, but once the car starts up it runs excellent and pulls nicely. $46,500. I believe it is a great deal for a unique F-car that looks as nice as this one does. I'm near Green Bay, Wisconsin. Looks fantastic, Silver is a great color for the Mondial and this Boxer scheme is just great! Does it have a Euro VIN? Is the car currently registered in California? Or was it ever registered in California?
Sorry about that, thanks for letting me know. The mileage is 108,395km or just over 67,350 miles. To my knowledge the car was registered in CA before I bought it, came with a CA title. It has a WI title now. Thanks!
Not a lot of fans of the Mondial in the world, nor 2+2 Ferraris for that matter… but I am one (and I think we're growing in numbers)! I have the Mondial predecessor, a 1975 308 GT4. This Mondial looks good, and I don't normally go for the boxer paint scheme on cars, but it really works with this. Maybe Ferrari should have offered that as a factory finish?? Wish I had room for it and I'd bring it back to California, it's really a good looking car. GLWS!!
I'm a little more motivated to open up this garage space at the moment. If anyone is interested in the Mondial, I will let it go for $42k. Cheers.
Those huge US side markers really detract from the lines on this car, especially with that paint scheme. But it looks good in Boxer style trim.
Thanks @Jdubbya, if the Mondial doesn't end up selling, maybe I'll look into deleting those markers this year. It is a good suggestion.
If they're the same as on a 308 (pretty sure they are) it may be more work than it's worth, you would need to do some body work to plug the post holes to do it.
Yes the paint scheme really works on that car. What size are the Gottis? They look like they may be 15's.
I had a Mondial 8 that someone had put 16 inch Gottis on and they were the wrong offset....wheels stuck too far out. These look correct. The Gottis are now on my 308 and the offset is correct there. I sold the Mondial 8 for pretty good money, and someone else sold it for even more. This QV is twice the car.
I've still got the boxer scheme Mondial QV. I'm currently having the front suspension bushings replaced and steering rack rebuilt.
I got my Mondial Coupe back from the shop last month andv have been driving it around the last month. It has be excellent. I will be listing it on eBay shortly for $46,900. This summer I spent about $4k doing the rebuilt steering rack, front bushings, a couple transmission seals, transmission service, and new fuse box connector. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Mondial is up on Hemmings if anyone looks there. I am more motivated to make some space for this spring if someone is looking to pick up a Mondial Coupe. https://www.hemmings.com/listing/1983-ferrari-mondial-640693
Would take $39,500 on the Mondial if anyone is looking for an inexpensive, nice running, unique Ferrari. Thanks, Cory
(humor) I have to note a addition to the Ferrari Lexicon I had not heard before... "Slicktop" because... "Eliminazione del tettuccio apribile" doesn't roll off the tongue as well. It seems we keep pushing the boundaries to find uniqueness in our offerings. "Vetroresina" because wavy fiberglass is just so cool! "Monospecchio" because someone was too cheap to get a second mirror. "Boxer Trim" because Rhino Liner make a good quick fix to sill rust.
No hidden rust, but I appreciate the humor. Boxer paint was added to provide a different look for the Mondial. Slicktop is a common reference in the car world, not something I made up Given that the US market cars had a troublesome sunroof, I do think that a non-sunroof car is unique, but I suppose that is up for debate. Thanks!
