The wheels for a 1984 400i are TRX type size 180 TR 415 and they are designed to fit the Michelin TRX 240/55 VR 415 tire. If you are looking to buy a set, I saw an ad in the current Ferrari Market Letter. I don't know the seller or anything about the wheels for sale and have no financial interest in them:

400i WHEELS. Four wheels, 180/415 with mounted OK correct Michelin 240/55/415
    tires and OK center caps from a 1984 400i. Will fit others. $1,250 o.b.o. plus s/h. 3/09

There were 2 different of wheels/tires supplied w/400's.

The 180 TR 415's that John mentioned translates to a shave over 7" wide X 16 1/3" dia.,
    they are fitted w/Michelin TRX 240/55 VR-415 (27.2" overall dia. X 9.8" cross-section).

    The other size is a 15" x 7 1/2",
    they were fitted w/Michelin XWX, 215/70VR-15 (27" o.d. X 9.2" X-sec.)

imo, I think the TR/TRX's/ possess a better 'Ferrari' appearence w/the lower profile/wider/more aggressive treaded tire.
Sure, they're more expensive but then, that's Ferrari. Owning the marque w/cheapo budget don't mix.
    Got to love those TRX's.

great synopsis and i couldn't agree more. the 415's are just way, way better for the appearence car...
but your rubber is going to cost you triple and still be very old technology.

i have a perfect set of 5 415's if you like to discuss. my expectations are reasonable and the US dollar goes a long way up here right now...

Not if you use Leatherique, those TRX's stick like 'gumballs' (as the chemist @ Leatherique coined it), very difficult to get the car to drift!
New products on old tech.= WOW

Do you know when the switch from the XWX to TRX took place?

Also, "got to love those TRX's" is not a phrase that I ever expected to hear without a smile or a wink! A buddy of mine said they look like good snow tires to him!

Current Coker Tire price on the TRX tires is ca. $535..........................each.

Longstone has them for $512. Probably newer production too.

Thanks, I would rather go with the newer stuff. Bolt pattern? 5X108?

According to the Ferrari manual, the old 15" rims/tires ended with car #42705

Don't know, I just know they're out there...I believe Dave & Aidan have them on their 400's.

I am dead serious John. I think the look between the 2 is night & day.

Daniel will extend the same discount (10%) as Jerry did for F-chat members. Those who are interested might try for more.
I will admit that $1926. for a set of 4 is a nut to crack, shipping isn't cheap either. I ended up stopping in the store between Ohio & Fla & paid Tenn. sales tax instead.
