Hello everyone, Just gotta say how much I LOVE my 84' GTSi. It's my first 308 after having owned a 95' 355 GTB manual and a 92' 512TR Euro spec. The 308 in my opinion is like the best kept secret For me because of the rawness of the drive and feel through he steering wheel, it has proven to be not the fastest but rather the most fun. Who would have thought right? I mean we've all heard the 308 Magnum PI jokes and that it's not a "Real" Ferrari blah blah blah . I love the telepathic feel the car, the balance and tightness of the chassis, the size, the firmness of every move the car makes, the sound of the valves etc .The pure and simple charm of the 308 has won me over. Just a fabulous joyous car to drive, with no excess to get in the way. Oh, and to anyone reading this thinking I dont know what a real Ferrari is ..My other Ferrari is and F40 that I use only on the track. For road use, I enjoy my 308 just as much. Anyone overlooking the 308 because they have to have a bigger more bad ass Ferrari is really depriving themselves of a real jewel of a car. I know I did .. Regards, Zorro
I agree 100%. I was not prepared for how much fun my '84 GTSi was, I love it. Everything you say is spot on with how I feel about mine. Great post - enjoy the ride!
I think people feel that because of the 308's exposure. Most have seen them so they become familiar. Not an exotic.
Guess what. I have a set of McIntosh MC301 mono blocks with McIntosh C1000 preamps (All tubes of course). The only car that has kept me fully engaged in the drive experience up until this point has been my F40. I feel on the basis of how engaging the 308 is to drive it will be a keeper as well. It's not numbers and 0-60 speeds. Technology is fine, lap times are great, but FUN is not always related to the best numbers. I should say that everyone will have their own opinions, whatever works for the individual is great. Thanks to everyone who has replied to this thread! Now Let's get out there and enjoy our 308's!!!!!!! Cheers!
Only people that clearly do not understand the history in that company. There is no logic - at ALL - in the arguement that it isn't. Especially now. Because its not a 12? Sorry, wrong, check Ferrari's history on the track. Because it is a mid-engine? Sorry. Check that racing history again. Because of FIAT? Sorry, worng, unless you want to include EVERY new Ferrari built since the late 60's. Do that math, Ferrari was only "Ferrari" for about twenty years. That was FORTY PLUS years ago.... People that say these things probably couldn't point to Italy on a map anyway.
Hi neighbor! I'm new to Ferrari ownership (bought my 84 308 GTS QV lst summer), and am looking forward to getting out to a few Ferrari Club events this year. I hope to see you around! Gordon
As an owner of an 85 308 GTB and a 95 F355 spider I totally agree. The 355 is a great car, fast, good handling, fun to drive, but it not that different than a BMW Z4 or Porsche Boxster in a lot of ways. It's just a car to me. But the 308 is a Ferrari from the period when Ferraris were Ferraris and the newest model wasn't the response to some other super car manufacture's offering. Starting with the 355 Ferraris were just another shot in the super car wars. I drive my 308 less than the 355, for one reason; as I said, the 355 is just a car; the 308 is something special. Perhaps the last offering from Ferrari that is.
