When I sold mine, a potential buyer paid for a Ferrari mechanic to come look at the car. The engine out service was documented with pics and service Billings. A few months ago there was a poster on this forum who bought a car from a South Texas F dealer and went thru an ordeal to get his money back. Buying from a Ferrari dealer (used) is no guarantee....at least for the vintage ones.

I'm glad I could make your day. I'll take Continental AutoSports and their 45 years of Ferrari experience over any Indy you can throw my way. Antagonize much?

    One last question to RonH.

Do you know what the M and the O in IMHO stand for?

    Hello

So apparently I'm a bully and crybaby and whatever else the former owner of Ferrari Chat thinks of me.

I will no longer form an opinion and most definitely will never say anything that can be construed as something that a sponsor here will feel offended by.

So fifteen years as a paid subscriber without ever being banned, I say **** you Ferrari Chat.

    Good bye...

This thread reminds me of needing some bird seed the other day.....but when I grabbed a huge bag, it had been slit and I've never seen so much bird seed on the floor in my life.

My regular 'hood grocery so they all look at me and were like : 'Shrugs shoulders.

To the OP, I think you had better send those seats away again, to someone that can get them Factory spec. The Zegna fabric is rare because most nut swingers would go with leather in these high line cars.
I think the seller has been pretty transparent with posting the VIN plates and Import info.

Take a drive, and see how things go.
As noted above a Belt Service on one of these includes all sorts of other things, should be huge pile of take offs...

Looking closely in real life one could see the anodizing condition on the louvers, such things .....that would or should match to a "17K miles car, "

It is nice to see on that missed getting North American side marker lights cut in, another thing to look at from "the inside".
If all that passes, and records of the Bond and Bond Release are present, good deal.

Beautiful car! Had a poster of one when I was in high school. Surprised at the price.

I could afford it if I sold my 360, but I couldn't do that. :)

I saw this post a couple of weeks ago and thought it looked like a very nice car. I am currently selling another car and was offered a 512 bbi on trade so I have done quite of bit of research lately. I have looked at quite a few of them and my conclusion to what it is worth is to stay away from it if you are from California. You will have to end up getting a Montana title or AK one, other than that forget it. I spoke to FOBH and to several other local Marque specialists and it would be cost prohibitive and the time it would take would not be worth it.But to the other lucky 49 states, nice car! As per Continental AutoSports , I bought a 1984 512 bbi from them in 2005 and All I can tell you is I have owned at least 30 Ferraris over the years and the one they sold me was 100% top notch. Not a single issue in 2 years of ownership. I sold it to the Ferrari Owners club chapter President in WA and his was smitten as well. I think he put 35 kmi on it in 3 years.

Not trying to be argumentative and with all due respect, i would not rely on what Ferrari dealers tell you about making an older Ferrari qualify for California smog. They really are not interested in doing it and are more interested in servicing new cars and not dealing with older car issues. I spent over $10k getting my “old” 612 (by Ferrari dealer standards) through CA smog. The Ferrari dealer took my money and ultimately issued an official letter saying there was no way to fix the issue and it was the nature of the car. CA laughed at the letter and said “tough”. So I ultimately found someone who was interested and able to address the issue.

As I said before, before you count out CA make a call to someone who knows about smogging old Ferrari’s in CA.

Based on my experience Craig at Fast Cars in Redondo Beach does this all the time and it would be a simple call to him to check it out. Also, based on my experience, I doubt it would be a big deal for somebody that knows what they are doing, but ultimately you should consult a professional.

I do not want to steer this thread away from the original post of selling a very nice red 512 , but the gentleman you referred to in your post is one of the fellows who advised me. FYI. I was going to visit his shop last week, but I think it will be this week. I could say he could not have been more knowledgable or patient with his time.

Since the BB is pre OBD, and it has federal emissions approval, this car can be registered in California, as long as it passes the CA rolling road / exhaust test. I don't see any reason that would prevent it from doing so.

A bit more of an arduous process than that. Click on the first and especially the second link (in my previous post). Test laboratory (in accordance with FTP) must be approved by the California ARB (Air Resources Board), etc.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Great looking car, love these original Zegna seats on the car being offered, something different. Not to everyone taste.

From another ad I found about Zegna (not this car of course):

"This car is certified by Ferrari to be a factory Ermenegildo Zegna Edition. For those that do not know, Zegna is a world renowned designer most notable for designer clothing. Zegna partnered up with Ferrari to build some special 512 BBI's with his interiors. This car is one of those special cars."

This is interesting as well, I found this very old thread on Fchat, says there where only 27 Zegna editions? I know there is a Boxer expert on this thread who will know this. Chime in please. Ad says owner installed these for comfort, so assume it is not one of the Zegna cars.

https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/behold-ferrari-boxer-1-of-27-ermenegildo-zegna-edition-1-of-just-27.422974/ (note although no pictures from this old thread, they do mention Orange inserts.)

As for value I don't understand why these or Daytona's are not worth much more, but they never are until they are and until then everyone has a reason why they are not. Been thinking of getting out my wife's 11 km BBI and driving it..maybe today. Been three years at least:eek:

Ohh, last note, for us CA is only good for visiting in short trips, then leaving. Come to the Blue Ridge...
