1985 Ferrari 400i fuel system question: The (new) 113978 Bosch fuel accumulators had their return lines missing from the little 90 degree tubes in the back. I have located two return lines than run from the top of each fuel tank through the back of the trunk and, strangely, ALL the way to the engine compartment. There are no provisions for connecting the fuel accumulator return line. Suggestions? The factory drawing does not help: https://algarferrari.com/store/parts/12-cylinder/gt-group-2-2/400-gti-automatic-i/table-9

That's a trick question ;) The 90 deg fitting on the back end of the 113978 Accumulator is just a vent to atmosphere. If the diaphragm inside the Accumulator fails -- fuel will come out, but, in normal operation just outside air should move in on out. On euro models, they just leave that fitting open to atmosphere (no hose connected). On US models, they run a hose from that fitting back to the fuel tanks (so, if fuel ever did come out, it wouldn't just drop on the ground). If your 400i is still in a stock euro configuration = no hose present. If your 400i had been modified to be US legal = it might have had a hose added going bank to the tank (but it's only a "safety"/emission thing -- there shouldn't be any liquid fuel in such an added line in normal operation).

The lines going from the fuel tank to the engine bay are the fuel return lines from the fuel distributor/pressure regulator.
