What a depressing place and no wonder they are bankrupt but I digress... Across the street at your nicer than average used-up-car lot I saw this shiny red object. I checked it out since I was there and it may merit a looksie for someone here. The body/paint was very nice and it looked original. The tan interior was okayish and I'd guess it was an honest sub-30k mile car. The salesman story was that was car was traded in on a Hummer at a local BMW dealer that they are affiliated with. He went on to say from the Carfax report one could deduce that the car had just 2 owners. I ran the report and am not sure how he came up with that but whatever. The 'site description says "Complete records" and in grease pencil on the windshield it said "FULL HISTORY". I checked the service records they had for the car. It was exactly 3 small invoices. 2 from 1992 and 1 from 1998. All 3 were from the same independant here in the Seattle area and all said "internal no charge" on them. Oil changes, coolant changes and one was for new plug wires and a valve adjustment. No records other than that so assume the worst. He did say they had just taken it to Park Place in Bellevue for a lookover and had a trans leak repaired. While I had the records in my hand, I pointed out to the salesman that someone had written "FULL HISTORY" on the windshield. He quickly replied that, well, "someone" must be wrong. He then went on to say that perhaps in fact these 3 invoices represented the entire service history of the car since hey it only had 27k on the clock. My mouth opened as if to speak but then my brain reminded me I did not have the time so I just left. All in all though the car looked decent. Proceed with caution. I always try to stop myself from debating with salesmen...but sometimes I cannot stop myself. I always regret it as soon as the unbelievable bs starts hitting my ears. As long as I can remember there have been many mondials that have popped up on local lots. Most have looked ok, but with stories that don't match.
