In the description it says that it is a 3.2L Qv when it is clearly a 3.0L Qv. Might be a red flag might not.

    Good Luck in your search.

Looks clean... spotless engine bay, nice paint and interior, books, records (with pics!), decent "driver" miles, new OE Michelin tires, new top, etc. Are you in AZ and able to see the car in person? Consider getting a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection). Looks like a nice one.

These cars are not as rare as you may think. There's an '88 with 35k on the clock and they're asking $38k. It's in L.A. is looks great. It's with a dealer which helps to allow for a cooperative person when it comes to taking it to a Ferrari mechanic to conduct a PPI. No PPI, no buy. That's the rule.

I've driven these cars and have to say that if you can stretch yourself a little, having an '88 instead of a '80 will be like driving a new one compared to this older one.

There's also a '86 that you could pick up for about $28k and it has about 36k and it's in Pleasanton, CA (about 15 miles from me). It will need to have the top replaced and a few cosmetics. Nothing serious I understand. It too is at a dealer dealing in exotics. There's an authorized Ferrari mechanic about 10 min. away that could do a PPI probably within the same day. Again, far and away a better deal than any '80 with that kind of miles on the clock.

Let me know if you want further info on where to contact the sellers. Trust me, I'm married too and she doesn't mind me buying these kind of cars providing they don't spend a life time in the shop. I've done my homework and stepping up to a newer model is a better deal for a first time owner.

    Cheers!
    Dan

The 88 Mondial is no longer in Pleasanton. They moved it to their Benicia dealership because it was not selling. They replaced to top and they are now asking $33 for it.

    This one's an '85, not an '80.

While I did not drive over to see this car, the salesman seem to be a straight shooter. He was up front with what it needed to be more like a $38k car. There's more to it than putting on a new top and charging $4k for it. He told me (before putting the new top on) that they were reducing it to $29k. Who ever buys this car will be able to negotiate hard to find their bottom.

That white Mondial with the gross interior has been on ebay for about a month. It consistently brings $12,000 and reserve isn't met. I just saw on the dealer's website that they are asking $22,900!! Wow. That's a big spread.

Is it just me, or in one of the pics of the photo album in the OP's auction, is the car sitting on it's side? It looks like it fell off the thing they use to hoist up the cars.

What do you estimate would be a fair price for this car? I was planning in driving over to Benicia to test drive it.

    Thanks,

    Richard.

The ebay car (subject of thread) looks very nice except for the over use of shields. Missing the valence in the rear. Otherwise, very complete. I would go see it, look at the service records, talk to the shop that did the service and have it inspected. If you can get it for under $30K, you would have a good value. I would be interested to know why they pulled the engine. Check to see if the lower cam drive bearings were replaced.
