1985 Mondial-New oil leak --oil filter housing?

Greetings! Well.... I finally got the Mondial through the tough enhanced region Smog testing process here in Northern California. And then this morning noticed a small oil leak next to the oil filter housing base. After cleaning up the area and checking the oil cooler line and banjo fitting (no leak there) and confirming it was not the oil filter itself, I started to suspect either the oil filter base gasket -- or maybe the oil pressure sending unit. Anyone have a similar experience on a QV?

Another reason to be concerned is the leak is very close to the square opening between the engine block/transaxle that allows you to view the Clutch assy. That could ruin one's day if some finds its way onto the clutch disk.
