I found a 1985 Testarossa with under 5,000 original miles. It has been in storage for years. Its supposedly a early car, red/tan... I was told one of the first to come into the U.S. I was also told that there were some differences on these early cars with the later builds of that year. Can anybody tell me what differences there were if any and when (vin numbers) did these changes occur?

    Thanks,

    Sloane

I'm not an expert, but I read somewhere that #55773 was the first US-spec Testarossa, though #54643 was one of the first imported (a European spec car). I don't know if there were any differences with the early models.
However, you may know that flying mirror Testarossas with minimal mileage are exceedingly rare. They were bought and used. Around 1988-1991 there were a number of Testarossas bought by speculators that have since covered minimal mileages, like the white one sold at Monterey recently - but you hardly ever see flying mirror cars like that.
