Yours is very different from mine. I would like to see a picture of the steering column with one without the knee bolsters/

I see on mine , I dont have the knee bolsters. Did all USA cars come with that? I am told I have a very early 1985 car.

IIRC, the US cars had knee bolsters from 87? and on. I dont think early cars had them. Some other countries mandated them as well.

Yes, bolsters (& the "hard" steering column cover) came in 1987 when the passive restraint system was implemented. Here is a later car with the bolster and the hard cover for the column.

Steve, can't find a reference photo of the "soft" cover like yours, I'm curious how it attaches too. Hopefully someone will chime in with an early car photo.
