My 1986 328 GTS would start first time, idle well until warmed up, then would start to rough idle, the plugs also looked too lean, so I thought it's time to put a kit through the K-Jetronic distributor seeing it is now 37 years old. I also had a problem for years that it would not start easily when hot.
Rebuilding the distributor I made sure that the pinhole in the diaphragm lined up with the small holes in the body. I also replaced all fuel injectors and seals. I had previously replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, accumulator, RPM sensor, crank angle sensor, oxygen sensor, new plugs etc.
Now when I start the engine it starts first shot but only runs for 2 seconds then cuts out, it does the same every time. Plugs are now wet.
I also removed air flow safety switch connector, same thing happens. Remove start injection valve plug connector, doesn't want to start at all.
What is my problem? Can it be the Warm Up Regulator?

    Hi mate,
Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue?

If you are having a similar symptom as the OP, the first thing to do is try a different ...101 relay in the "Fuel injector delivery pump starting-relay" position.

Another easy initial diagnostic thing to do is unplug the safety switch on the airflow metering unit and turn the key "on" = you should hear the fuel pump run. If you do hear it run = try starting the engine. If you don't hear it run = that's bad...

Having rebuilt the FD, it could be that the mixture screw is now, far enough off that it is firing on the fuel it got from the cold start injector and then dying from lack of fuel at the idle circuit. Might search for initial FD settings after rebuild. (The Porsche/MB sites are usually good sources for info if the Ferrari Chat doesn't have the info.)
