I'm a retired engineer, have driven Porsches most of my life (still own the ones I purchased many years & rebuilds ago... 356A, 911S & 930, a real Porsche doesn't have water in it's engine..) I will do my own maintenance including belt changes, I value a car that's been properly maintained. I can travel anywhere in the USA to pick up a car. I am not looking for a perfect ultra low mileage car... I want a car that is a driver. and can live with some imperfections.

The purchase will be all cash and I would prefer to buy directly from the owner. I've been watching sales and auctions for some time, I have a good grasp of actual current sale prices, and the difference between those that actually sold, and those that are overpriced with bs reserves and sitting unsold. If you have a car that you think might be what I'm looking for, please contact me at [email protected]; and provide a description of what you have. I am not a dealer or affiliated with one, I try not to waste people's time, would appreciate the same courtesy. Thanks Louise Racine

Good luck with your search Louise. If you don't mind a car that is not perfect there is one in Ontario at a decent price. Red on Tan.

Good luck with your search. I too think a 512 TR is in the near future. Having said that, there's quite a delta between an 86 Testarossa and a 512M.

Friend of mine is Switzerland just sent a flyer for 512 TRs for sale there. There are about 15 and all are less than $100K.

    If interested PM me.

    "there's quite a delta between an 86 Testarossa and a 512M."

Yes, and the price paid for the car will reflect it.... and 512M seem to be a bit harder to find.

I owned an 85 TR when they were new and it wasn't just the worst car I ever owned, it was the worst ANYTHING I ever owned.
I saw the flatbed driver from LFSC more often than I did my wife.
I must say I was never surprised with the car, it nearly always let me down....
You're wise to look for an 86 and later I suspect.
    Kind Regards,

    Ron

I called, thanks for the heads up.

That is the car at Blue Merlin in Stewart, with the salvage title, going to drive it and look at documentation tomorrow.

Good luck...it could have been light damage for an insurance company to consider the car a total since the values were so low yet repairing costs so high!

Looked at and went for brief ride in the TR... a few days prior the battery had died, they put the charger on wrong terminals and smoked the alternator. 120 amp alter. wow!! Took it out (hot battery no alternator) and it ran v bad.... Bosch fuel injection not happy.. maybe low volt or perhaps damaged...

She drew blood before I even rode in her. The props failed (while inspecting the engine) the hood came down on my head... fleeting thoughts of the movie Christine flashed through my head.. along with stars..... lol

Driver seat has wear/hole. Tires old. Past maintenance records indicate a issue with battery going flat. Really needed to take it out and put a load on the engine and drive train.

The owner is a charming petite lady, she does not have the physical strength to muscle the car around.. and is miserable driving it. lol

    I'll pass on this one.......
