I'm looking at a white on red interior 328 GTS with 23k miles on it. The car is a solid 8 out of 10 cosmetically. It does not have original paint, but the existing paint was done pretty well. Wheels are perfect and tires are newer. Everything works as it should including gauges, ac, and heat. Car drives out nice and tranny shifts smooth. Power feels like it's all there. What do you guys think the range should be as far as determining value?

Where is it? Have a VIN? There is a white/red 87 that I have a lot of knowledge of and there are not too many that color.

Tell us where you are? In the US? In Europe? Is it a US car or a Euro? Your location will be a factor in a price for the car.

If you can get Rifledriver the VIN that would be a HUGE help. Chances are pretty strong that he (or someone else) may know the car fairly well.

Was it sold originally in Mississippi?

We had a FCA track day at TigPrix way long time ago and a white/red 328 GTS was there.

That one I know very little about. It was built in May and was sold new at Continental Classic.

Besides all the normally apparent stuff that you mentioned... and checking for a recent major service, these cars are now 30 years old.

I know on mine, the suspension bushings and shock bushings were getting tired and I ended up replacing nearly all the hoses. Brake, radiator and heating and the fuel hoses especially.

If you paid a dealer to do it all, it could run in the $15,000+ range for all the parts and labor. Doing it all yourself, its still a few thousand dollars in parts.

Just make sure you know what you're getting and what you need to do to get it all sorted out.

These are great cars but they need to be maintained, and I would say, driven. If you are mechanically inclined, it's not too big a dent in your wallet. But as always, buyer beware.

A repainted car, in the mileage range you noted and with all the above taken care of.. is probably $60K car.

Prices are softening somewhat. Only the more mint and original cars with garage queen mileage are more than the above.

If this car needs freshening up, and hoses, bushings etc. but still a solid driver car, I would not go over $45-$50K and I would push back on that. Updating and bringing these cars into solid condition is not a cheap undertaking.
