I wonder if someone can assist.

We have a 1987 Testarossa as well as 1966 Lamborghini 350GT that we are trying to register in France. Both cars are registered in the UK and the V5 certificates have "Exempt" for Type Approval Numbers.

The French authorities are being difficult and won't accept the car for their equivalent of an MOT test without this number.

They are in the format e1*0000/0000*00*00

Would any owner be willing to let me know the Type Approval Number shown on their registration documents from European countries for a Testarossa?

Appreciate the assistance - thanks in advance.

if nobody can help you I could help you to register the car in germany without any problems and then there is also no problem to register in france - I think?
I live in germany and also in france ( alsace ) and often had some trouble, but since about 5 years it is nearly no problem to register a car in france what is already registered in germany

unfortunately the france is more france than europe - they always try to do something different and I mostly get trouble with the government there because the left hand is not knowing what the right hand is doing :(

[Just in case...and sorry for the repost; I repeat here my answer posted in the “general discussion” forum on November 10th]

    Roger,

I'm slightly puzzled by the way you express the format, but nevertheless:

For registering a car in France, what they usually ask is the "type mine", which is the reference under which the car has been certified "agreed for circulation" by the french road administration when new.
[That administration, for historic reasons, is called "Le service des mines" (the mining service) hence the usual expression calling this data: "type-mine"]

For a Testarossa, it should be "F110AB/E"; later cars I believe were agreed under "F110AB/EF".
Then you have to provide the VIN of the car of course.
I'm not a "Testarossa" owner, but on the registration certificates for my two 328, the key data is indeed the "type mine" (F106ABPB for the GTB, F106ABPS for the GTS); they are reported on a data plate that was placed here by the french importer in the engine compartment, see enclosed pic of the one from my GTB and the first line of the Importer plate, "type", which gives the "type-mine" as F106AB/PB.

Why not drop a message in the "Testarossa" section of the french forum www.theferrarista.com?

I think I shall left the last sentence without answer...this time; but the word "cartesian" is of french origin.

    Hello Roger,

I had to go through that registration trial for my 400i I bought in Germany two years ago.
You got to get an "attestation de conformité" from Maranello. A document that states that the car that was first registered in the U.K. (Or somewhere else) conforms with the technicals criteria approved by the French administration.
We are talking about a period before a European registration number was created.

You'll have to deal with an official dealer or maybe directly with Maranello if you've got the connexions... The formalities were carried out by a German concessionaire (they take photos/datas of your car, send it to the "factory"...)

After a 2 months waiting and 700 euros I finally got the document bellow that opened me the doors!!! :)
