Is there such a thing as a US Spec 1987 model year car with the following:

    Dual mirrors
    Single spline wheels
    No mouse track seat belts

The 86 MY cars had no mouse belts but the single mirrior and by 88 they had dual mirrors but 5 bolt wheels and stupid mouse belts. Am I searching for a nonexistent car or do I just need to find a euro 1987?

Thanks. I throw this one to the experts.

Can you just pull the fuse on the mouse belts or disconnect the mechanism? They don't bother me much...

The very first US Testarossa with Model Year 1987, was also the very first US Testarossa with double low mirrors (s/n 67487) ...

All US Testarossa with MY 1987 and a part of the cars with MY 1988 (until s/n 75997) have the single bolt wheels ...

Now it gets more difficult, as MY 1987 also was the introduction of the mouse belts (also from s/n 67487).

So, looking at pure US versions, you're indeed searching for a ghost ...

HOWEVER, you might want to take a look at Canadian versions. The cars made for Canada also have the US version engine (and catalysts) and there are a few MY 1987/1988 which should have the single bolt wheels, double low mirrors and Euro style safety belts. You might need to change a few other items (speedo?), but you need to check that. But note that finding such a car will be very hard ... according to my info, there are only 17 cars which fit your criteria ... Happy hunting :D ;)

    ^^This.

So, why not pick up a US '87 spec, and remove the belts then replace with standard ones ?? I am betting the mounting lugs are still under the carpets --- has anyone ever confirmed that ??

Yes the anchor points are there, but you would have to remove all the mouse belt system, and replace some of the interior'a leather trims, which can be difficult and very expensive. It's been done, but it's no easy task.

Thank you all - I very much appreciate all of the help and wisdom. Did I mention I was also hoping for a Black/Black car. Needle in a hay stack and I'm probably better off just finding the best well maintained TR I can get. Again, very helpful.

Wow, great info, I have an 86 single mirror here that came late in 86 as a Canadian Car.

Had no idea the US market never received the single mirro car.

Maybe I wasn't clear, but the US market certainly received single mirror cars. But all those cars (420+ cars) have Model Year 1985 or 1986 ...

For the record, I don't have anything against the flying mirror cars and they may even prove more collectible. Both my fear of lane changes with such a wide beast and general appreciation for symmetry draw me to an 87 or later car.
