Can someone point me in the right direction in getting a fuel system diagram and an ignition system wiring diagram please? My car starts up fine and then suddenly dies after about 5 minutes like its starving for gas or not getting any spark. Usually it will start back up after a few minutes, but today it didn't (yet).
Is this a common problem or has anyone else experienced this problem?
I have the fuel injected 1988 5000QV with 8000 miles and parked in a climate controlled environment.

Any help on where to get some pictures so I can trace out either system or, any advice on what the problem may be is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ken

Thanks for the links. It appears to be a vacuum leak at this point...

    I have an 89 F.I.
Now that you mention vac. leak I have found a few in the ribbed vac. lines, some splits, some leaks at the connectors, trimmed the line and reinstalled.= noticable dif.
I'm not sure if you have the same setup as an 89.

Other issues I had was a stuttering at low speeds and rough idle, turned out to be plugs, wires, and cap.(in addition to vac. leaks). Bought from Evans (red wires) best price and shipped that day! Thankyou to the community for the help, you were right on!

To see how well the two banks were ballanced I bought two vacuum gauges that came with hoses and a cone shaped connector. To make this job incredibly simple I bought two brake bleeder valves with matching threads to the vaccum plug hole,(10x8.5 metric if I remember correctly) two rubber orings to seal the bleeder valves. Connect both guages to the seperate banks at the same time. Now when the car is started you can watch the vaccum in real time to both banks as adjustments are made. It is very simple but adjustments are very sensitive, it doesn't take much. My car never ran so well after. (I haven't been able to find a vac. line connector with the correct thread.)

I still have a vaccum leak that I belive is part number 10 "washer" in the link below but I'm not possitive. (I'm down with a back injury and haven't been able to continue with the car.)

QUESTION??? (#10WASHER) Does anyone know if this part could be a culprit for a vac. leak? What is inside of this part, is it just a splitter for the lines or is there anything in there that could wear like a rubber part?

OK, quick correction on my info.

If anyone wants to know, the thread size for the brake bleeder that fits the vaccum plug hole is...

    M8-1.25 x 24MM (this on the packaging)

This was found at Auto Zone, part #484-150.1

    Ken,

you'll find the wiring information about your AEC104B-780 ignition on www.dinoplex.org, the lower diagram in this link shows the standard wiring for a magnetic (VR) triggered AEC104B: http://www.dinoplex.org/PDF/Dinoplex_AEC_104_Wiring_Diagram.pdf

Does your engine die within several seconds (fuel issue) or at once (ignition issue). Can you hear the characteristic humming sound of the AEC104B after the car died?

Just a wild guess but you might want to make sure that your fuel tank ventilation is not clogged. If it is, there would be a vacuum in the fuel tank which eventually starves the fuel pump. If your Countachs continues to run when the fuel tank cap is off, then that might be the problem.

    Best,
    Adrian

    Adrian,
Thanks for the response. The engine dies after it warms up. I would compare it the same as turning off the key to a running motor... No hesitation at all.

Chad B. called me and said it sounds like a classic vacuum leak and for me to check all the hoses and make sure they were in good shape and clamps were tight.

I found out that there are a LOT of hoses to look at! I may try the gas cap method today.

    Thanks for your advice.

    Ken
