Good to hear from you Wade.. When I open my sunroof the motor keeps running after the roof is fully open and it then makes a clicking sound until I stop pressing the open button. Is this normal? Also my sunroof will not close completely by itself. I have to push it hard from inside the car to get it to close completely! Any advice?? Thanks Phil
I have another problem! Sometimes my tickover rpm is 800 but more often it’s 1500.. What’s the problem and what’s the solution? Help please!!! Phil
No it's not normal, and neither in an '88 t. Rebuilding the sunroof system isn't too difficult, just time consuming. BTW, the motor is in the trunk.
Wade Thanks so much for your help and advice. I’m in the uk. By trunk do you mean at the back or front of the car?? Are you able to forward any details of sunroof repair to me either on this site or to my email which is [email protected] Thanks a million!! Phil Or better still come to the uk and help me!!
I would check your throttle bodies 1st. Make sure they are clean and not sticking. It could be that the throttle plate is not returning back to the fully closed position. Make sure that they are opening and closing in sync, and that they both close fully against the throttle stops. On a stone cold engine, next I would disconnect the battery for 15 seconds, reconnect, make sure EVERYTHING is turned off, start the car and let it idle for 15 minutes, or until the cooling fans come on and then shut off. The reason for this is to let the Motronic ECU relearn the warm up parameters. It takes the resistance reading from the throttle position sensors and uses that to determine what mapping it will use at what throttle opening. If the Motronic does not have an accurate reading it won't be able to properly run the engine. Clean out your idle air control valves. Using a manometer (you can look on YouTube how to build a home made one) balance the throttle bodies, and idle.
