Just finished removing my knee protection.

Removed the seats for extra room.

Dash already loose from upgrading the LED lights. Removed and set aside. Steering wheel already removed by removing 8 star bolt attaching the steering wheel to the hub.

Found 4 brackets with 2 nuts each. One bracket over each speaker and a bracket each side of the steering column.

Removed the speaker surround and the speaker wires to access forward bolts. Aft bolt accessed thru hole in bottom of knee protection

Removed a rubber piece under the steering column which was attached to the knee protection by 2 small rivets. Could have left in place.

Removed the nuts from the bolts each side of the steering column. The aft nuts were again accessed thru holes in the knee protection.

Removed 2 smaller nut & a bracket attaching the top of the center consul to the knee protection.

With all 10 nuts removed found the knee protection loose but was unable to get the brackets clear of the captured bolts.

Next removed the 2 star drive nuts and one bolt from the center consul. Lifted the rear of the center consul up 4-6 inches which lowed the forward end of the center consul enough to allowed the knee protection brackets to clear the bolts.

The found the after market speaker wire to a crossover box running thru the knee protection frame. Removed and rerouted.

Found the front bonnet release also running thru the knee protection frame. First took apart the release handle intending to snake it from under the carpet but found the crimped wire end would not fit thru the bottom of the plastic housing. Removed the release wire from the catch in the forward trunk and luckily saw the white plastic end cap in the bracket before I removed the wire. Lifted the wire up and removed the plastic end piece so it would not fall down and become lost between the wheel well and body.

    2 hours to remove

It looks like a real pain to reinstall.

Taking a coffee break before starting on the center section.

Hi James... sounds like a nice project nicely done. But I'm posting because you
are in Port Townsend - one of my favorite spots on earth. Mrs. Jedi and I come to
town at least 5 or 6 times a year, usually for a weekend. Our fave hotel is the
Water Street - rooms 5 or 7 on the water side. I've been going to PT since I
was a kid - bought my wife her very first cup of coffee ever at the Belmont in
the summer of 1980. I've been there over 100 times in my life... where abouts
    in town do you live?

Maybe next time we're in town, I can ping you and we can get together at Sirens
or the Uptown and I'll buy you a beer. Would love to see your TR - if the weather
is nice, I'll drive up in the 328

    :)

I live on 20 acres on Oak Bay road between Port Ludlow and Hadlock about 15 miles south of Port Townsend. Love living on the Olympic Peninsula and get into Port Townsend a least 3-4 times a week, but could not live in Port Townsend as I like living in the country and need room for all my toys. I use Port Townsend UPS store as my address. Ping me before you come and I will see about getting together for a beer & dinner, but being Merchant Marine I am out of the country for around 6 months and might not be around. The Belmont is one of my favorite restaurants.

My TR will be off the road for a while as I have the shrunken dash leather issue and just found rust in the corners of the windshield so now have to remove the windshield for some body work. When my friends come and visit me they look at the TR in various stages of dismantlement and shake their heads. They say I am the only person they know who buys a Ferrari for the fun of taking it apart.

Was looking for a 308 or a 328 but I like Silver & Black so ended up with a 1988 TR instead
