I have a few questions on a 1989 328. The gas struts on the engine cover/hatch seem to be discharged, so they don’t hold up the hatch. Question #1. What is involved in fixing the hatch. Question #2. Approximate costs to fix the hatch?

about 1/2 hour and 100 bucks. Basicly all you need to do is remove the c-clips from the strut pins, push out the pins and remove the strut. Install new strut. 2 people make it easier..one to hold the hatch the other to do the install.

I do not suppose you would knwo the part number and a good place to mail order them from would you? I live in Northern California and could mail order the proper ones if need be.
