I currently have my newly purchased 328 GTB in for its comprehensive major service…..I stopped by the shop today to take a look at thye work as I have never seen the nuts and bolts of a 328 engine…..I took a few pictures while I was there. She should be all ready to go by mid next week. Will be a blast to really drive her once she is all finished up……The great thing about the service is no surprises came up during the service which is great. The engine and all seemed to be exactly what she is supposed to be for a 4,300 mile car…..As you can see the engine looks fantastic. It was great to see the nuts and bolts of the 328 engine…..once you take the deck lid off and place her on a lift….it seems everything in the engine is pretty easy to access from top, bottom and wheel wells.....

Congrats! That motor is pristine, you can tell the mileage is low. Enjoy her!

Great car, the engine looks new. Do you plan to drive it or keep the mileage low?

That is one good looking, (and clean), 328!

Now Mark, when you get it back, wipe the arrow off the CSI! (if not already done) - smile!

    Very nice.

Very clean. Check the alignment of the decklid when you get it back. Mine took about three adjustments to get it right. Make sure it does not rub the sides or latch unevenly.

    Mark,

You can use use Wurth's SKS Black to touch up the unavoidable scratches on the deck lid bolts after its reassembled. The color is an exact match and will keep that engine bay looking as good as its does now.

Very nice looking engine, when you get her back, enjoy the drive. How come the cams on the forward bank are out?? On my recent major service the valve clearances were checked (10 needed adjustment) But I believe the cams stayed inplace.

Bucket and shim valves. the cam has to come out to get the bucket off and allow the shim to be changed....

No, the cam can stay in place while the shim is changed bit it needs to come out to change the cam seal housing O rings on all the 4 valve motors.

Where can I buy this paint? Is there a color code or part number for this black? Thanks.

He can do what most everyone else does and just unplug the sending unit. (I have seen it done countless times).

OR just leave it alone. The sending unit is about due to break anyway.

It is a nice car. Don't see many 328 GTBs.

I am a big believer in real mileage....the sending unit will stay plugged in....and if it breaks I will fix it as well......I like to have very acurate documentable mileage on the car that way when I sell it it the next owner they will get what they pay for.

I feel the exact same way. My 308 has almost 96,000 showing. I can hardly wait to see that "1" roll up. Probably this time next year.

Now thats interesting, how does the shim come out? I've got this system on a couple of my bikes and on these the shim sits under the bucket, so the cam has to come out to lift the bucket and get to the shim - interested in how the F-system workd, anybodt shed some light on this?
