Hey guys I know I could spend ages looking but have a couple of questions some one could answer in a second. I am in Australia but whats a fair price to pay for a belt change and what generally should you do at the same service ( how longs a piece of string I know. ) Here is a question though, how do you know how to get a new and sound belt and not one thats been on the shelf for 8 years?????? Tone
You can find belts from T. Rutlands. You will also need the tensioner bearing. I just did mine and new to my Ferrari and not a mechanic. I did it myself and it was fairly easy, alot easier than any other car Ive done. The belts are inexpensive but the bearing are going to be $150 a piece from Rutlands if you are Club member, So you are one, wink. You also will want to replace water pump, which looks expensive. A rebuilt pump from Ferrari is about $1400 bucks. But if you search forum there is a place in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, USA (I happen to live about 10 miles from him) that has them for less than $100. He ships within a day after getting yours and from what Ive read on this forum they are as good quality if not better than OE. Those are your necessities. Than there is a lot of little things that could be addressed, OR not, in my case. Those parts I mentioned will total about $500. If you know I good mechanic, I wouldnt pay more than $500 us to change them. Everything is very excessible and easy to do, or atleast on my Mondi 3.2 with same engine. I know there are some slight differences mainly do to engine position, but you just pull the right rear wheel and wheel well, pull the water pump, etc, belt covers, mark old belts.........etc, plenty of threads on here. Also, when doing your pump, check the tensioner bearing for water pump, mine would even spin and not sure how belt didnt break. I was able to get bearings at local part shop for all of $22. Cheers mate!
Bearings are actually 1/2 that price if you want to buy apart from a whole kit: http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=224308 We offer a major/30K service kit for the 328 that attempts to include the most common "gotta do it" gaskets, belts, bearings, filters and such. Certainly you can add & subtract items from the kit if you'd like, but we keep them boxed up as a distinct ready-to-ship item here: http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?cPath=40&products_id=171 Mention this post when you purchase a full kit, and I'll gladly ship to Australia via FedEx for free. (Yes, $0.00 shipping via FedEx).
I bought a new air input tube for my 328 from you and it is perfect. That was about a year ago, I will talk to my mechanic and I bet he gets his parts from you any way. you guys are solid. Will order soon I hope. A big thanks!!! Tony
