First day out in the 100 degree heat up here in Sacramento and things were going great until the A/C fan motor starting blowing intermitantly and then finally quit altogether. Moving swiftly on the freeway kept cool air coming into the cabin but at stop lights nothing doing. Got home, opened the bonnet, poked the fan turbine and off it went spinning for a few seconds and then nothing. I did this several times and the same thing happened. My next effort involved removing the fan motor from the heater housing. This took some very complicated wrist moves to get to the hidden screws against the front firewall (?). There is no engine up there so what is this body piece really called? Careful inspection of the motor revealed that the front end plate (squirrel cage end) was cracked away from the main motor body. This malady caused faulty alaignment of the armature and resultant intermitant operation of the motor. Now, none are to be had in our part of the world. I would settle for a motor housing that is burned up that has a few useable pieces or the whole working thing if I could get one. Anybody out there that can help?

Next installment we will talk about the 355 wheels that I had powder coated silver and look fantastic.

After that one maybe straight pipes after the cats. No muffler! The sound is awsome, something like a formula 1 scream.

Turns out that Rutlands did have the blower motor but would not part with it unless you bought the whole heater a/c box assembly for, Oh somewhere around $2500. I was really thinking that some one might have a "spare motor" that could be acquisitioned for a bit less. Even one that has a burnt aramature or brush assembly surly would have a good end plate to replace the one on mine that is broken. Just a thought, so I'll keep trying. Let me hear from any of you out there that might have a sourcing idea.

Have a look on the motor case itself. there should be a part number on it some place. More then likely its a bosh unit from something else..Probably a readily available unit from a jobber. Don't sweat it. Ferrari did not design a blower fan just for the 348. They took it from the parts bin of some car manufacturer and planted it in your Ferrari.

Could you post a picture of what the actual motor (not the assembly) looks like? Close-up of the damaged area? Just curious.

I did think of alternate sources and looked at the badge sticker on the motor that lists Borletti Climatizzazione as the supplier and could not read the part# that was present cause of heavy smudging and wear. A quick search on Google proved frustrating without the part# and most of the entrys were in good ole Dego. My Spanish not so good. As for pictures, I have already used epoxy putty to put the thing back together and have applied the squirrel cage and plan on motor insertion to the car this morning. I'll keep on the lookout for a good core as a back-up for mine in case of future failure.
