i am offering my 1989 Mondial T for sale. It's a rare color combination with Nero over Crema interior. Originally owned by a now famous Ferrari collector, it has devolved into a 'driver' with myself being the third owner. The 2nd owner had it for 18 years, and I've owned it for 2.

It had a major service including new water pump and hill tensioner bearings, and a few 'while we're in there' repairs. in July of 2014 at 31,500 miles done by Bruce Bogart, better known as Plugzit in the Ferrarichat community.

It has been resprayed both front and rear. Front due to chips etc. rear due to a minor valet bumper bender before I purchased it. The paint quality is quite good on both, except for the strakes in the front which could use a wet sanding.

Everything electrical works perfectly on the car except for two issues.

-the tach reads only half the revs about 80% of the time.
    -the suspension light is on

Bruce replaced the crank position sensor and and one coil pack in an attempt to remedy the tachometer issue, but it is still working at full revs only intermittently. It tends to work most often on colder mornings.

Bruce also helps me test all four of the suspension adjustment servos and all were working properly so the suspension light is a mystery.

The A/C compressor was rebuilt just prior to my purchase and charged with R12 and worked well for the first couple of months but then I believe a slow leak released the R12 back into the atmosphere. Oops.

It also has the updated fuse block. My mind is blanking at the moment on the manufacturer of this.

I've driven the car roughly 2000 miles in the 2 years I've owned it. I've never led it sit more than a month without a nice run up the Angeles crest freeway. And usually every two weeks or so to keep it fresh. It runs very strong and gets better with every drive.

The original transmission blew up fairly early on and was rebuilt, then promptly blew up again. At this point, the 2nd owner sourced a low mileage one from a 348 and it has been trouble free ever since.

I have a large stack of maintenance receipts that document the above repairs, plus another major, and the original purchase contract.

The interior is original and is in pretty good condition. The dash has no shrinkage, the passenger seat and rear seats have almost no wear but could use weekly conditioning to soften them back up as they are beginning to show slight cracking from age. The driver's seat has typical bolster wear and a light scratch from what could have been a key sticking out of someone's pocket at some point.

Prior to the most recent service it had a new clutch installed at around 30,000 miles. New shocks were installed a few years before that.

The top operates well but had a small tear that was repaired years ago that has held up well, but the seal along the front edge does have a wind leak and should have the weatherstripping replaced to remedy this.

The winshield has a small stone crack with no spidering whatsoever that was also repaired years ago.

I have two original folding ignition keys, and two original door keys, plus fobs for the alpine alarm and keyless entry, the tonneau cover, the extra soft cover that clips on and covers the car interior to protect it when the top is down. It has a mostly complete original toolkit, and some extra spare switches etc. and a few other items I'm sure I'm forgetting right now.

I also purchased a set of 348 wheels and put brand new tires on them, and the longer lug nuts needed to mount them, but never put them on the car. I may be willing to include them in the sale if I get an offer close enough to my asking price.

This is a well sorted driver minus the few small issues I listed above that need to be tested out . And it does look quite good even close up. I've attempted to include every small flaw in the car to save any potential buyer disappointment after what may be a long and costly trip to view the car.

I'm happy to make the car available for PPI's

I will upload some pictures soon in another post.

    Asking price $45,000

Lastly, I, selling the car regrettably, and only because I happened upon a 1981 one owner diaper-less euro 308 GTS that I immediately purchased from the original owner. I may be willing to sell this car instead because I truly do love driving the Mondial. But I honestly have no idea what I'd ask for it.

I have intimate knowledge of this car. It's better than the description implies. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks Bruce, I realize that my description made my Mondial sound not particularly desirable. It really is a beautiful car!

Those engine out photos, while beautiful, really scares me into a mondial t ownership. Look at how complex that engine and gearbox really is! Pretty clean too!

    GLWS!!

I would be all over it if it were registered in EU. Importing from US with customs, VAT and registration tax just means price goes up too much.
