    1) Window motors are sometimes slow on 348's. You can try checking the connections and/or rebuild.
    2) Slow down lights 1-4, 5-8 are common issues on the 348. They are caused by the bank sensors going bad. When they come on they cause the car to run w/ 1/2 power. Not a big deal. Don't worry. Do a search, there's a good picture of where they are in the archives. Not too difficult to change.

the first couple days after I received my 89 348 I thought the windows went down real slow, but they all go down real slow, so that might be something you will have to live with.

the 5-8 light coming on, well that same thing happened to me on the second day I had it and kept coming on every once in a while for the first few days and then it never came on again. I remember being very upset at the time, but I thought maybe It was sitting for a while and had not been driven. It never came on again.

    hope this helps.

Before you spend money on replacing window motors, try this. Take off the door panels and get some grease or maybe vasaline and rub some in the window tracks and around the window pulleys and wires. It fixed my problems without spending a dime.

As for the 5-8, it might be due to it not being driven much. The easiest way to tell is look under the car at night and see if one of the cats is glowing red. If it is, you got a bad cat. If its not, then try taking it out onto a back road and redline it. It might be some carbon build up that needs blown out if someone babied the car too much. Ferraris are not meant to be put-putting around town.

Hey John, first of all welcome to the 348 brotherhood.

Now, as for the slow windows, that is a very common problem. It more than likely is the conectors that are in the door jam. Open your door then look for the connector that is in the jam in between the hindges. Now you will want to untwist it counter clock wise. Once you have it off check the condition of the connectors. Make sure that everything is clean. You can use electrical contact cleaner, to clean the pins off really good. Then screw it back on and see how it works. Make sure that you screw it in all the way and that it is making good contact. You will also want to look to see if any wires are broken or frayed on the back side of the contectors. This should take care of your problem.

On to the slow down light. There is an exhaust ecu that monitors the temperature of the catalytic converters. It makes sure that the cats don't get too hot. If they start to get too hot they will send a signal to the Motronic ecu, that runs the engine, and gives a warning light for the side of the engine that the cat is getting hot on. I your case cylinders 5/8. Now this should mean that your cat is on the way out, or that you are running rich causing that cat to over heat. It will just flash the warning when the cat is hot. If you continue to drive and the cat doesn't cool down it will give you a steady light, and then it will shut down the bank of cylinders to prevent the cat from over heating. After the cat has cooled down it will let that bank of the engine run again. It usually takes 15 minutes of the engine being off for it to do this. It is very common for the exhaust ecu's to go bad. To check to see if it is the exhaust ecu that is bad here is what you do. The exhaust ecu sits on the back side of shock tower part on the sub frame. If you look at the coil pack, were the spark plug wires are, that is were the ecu is. Or you can follow the the thermocoupler wire off of the cat to the exhaust ecu. Unplug it then, remove the two nuts that hold it in place, and swap it with the ecu on the other side. Now if after you do that you still get the slow down light on the same side then it would be safe to say that your cat is going bad, or that you have a faulty thermocoupler on that side of the engine. If you get the slow down light on the other side then it is the exhaust ecu that has had it.

Both of these problems are very common and have been discused before. If you look throught the archives you can find more info about these and other problems you may have in the future.

As ernie said, welcome to the 348 brotherhood. I have nothing to add to ernie's post - see how you go with the usual fixes and if you're still struggling come back to us!!

    Cheers

Do you have the Motronic 2.5 or 2.7?

to be sure just have a look at the engine bay...
If you have two butterfly position sensors, it's a 2.7..

If you have the 2.7, then you can do a diagnostic test with the ecu's behind the seats, to tell what problems you have or may have had in the past.
