Thinking of buying one with around 110k miles on her as a 4th car. Anything that is prone to break or watch out for on these cars? Pretty robust? I have little knowledge of them, but always liked them. Would like to hear if anyone has had them and what they've heard about them.
    Thanks.

Have't owned an SL, but I would imagine that it would still be fall in the "when Mercedes built builtproof cars" era. If it would be a 4th car, it would probably be driven rarely, so upkeep may be not a hugh issue.

Nope, owned a 92, 95 and 97 SL, loved the cars hated the maintenance. Once out of warranty its not worth it to keep it. I once spend over $7500,00 in computer modules in once year, that was 8 months out of warranty and Mercedes Benz North America even stated to me that I would be better off getting a new one.

They have wiring issues which lead to major computer issues when the former fails. In short, early cars had poor insulation/used an improper gauge. The problem was most evident on early V12s which ran hotter under the hood, but no SL was immune.
