One of those pics show a testarossa badge, that can't be from that 512tr unless it has been stuck on buy the owner.......

 

I thought a few Tr's had that badge,not sure if OE .

 

The Testarossa badge was stock and came in on the early 512 TR's. Private sale car should be listed in the 105k range, when did he have the last major?

17K car- with a 2006 major, $110K, otherwise it's $100K.

 

The badge is stock on the top of the rear deck on the engine cover.

 

Never seen one in the UK. What year was that from?, all the 1992 models in the UK have the usual FERRARI lettering on the engine lid.

 

Early 92's, at least through 91234, had the badge. This might just have been US cars.

 

i had this debate - my 92 TR has the testarossa badge which I love - a lot of heritage and magic in the name - and so does Ton's in Belgium. Was told by Foskers and KHPC that these were aftermarket, however a lot of people on the board think that the earlier TR's had it as stock. Personally if mine didn't have it, I would have added it.

Maybe it sounds a little sloppy romantic, but I too find myself somewhat put off that the Testarossa name was dropped for the 512TR and the 512M cars. Sort of like insisting on a displacement number handle for an original Testa Rossa...?

BTW - I once had a Ferrari dealership mechanic (and a self-confessed BB enthusiast) tell me that the Testarossa did not deserve the name just because its heads were painted red. He claimed that this designation was reserved for engines which had some specific high output per cubic inch, and that they just "happened" to have painted such engines heads red for identification purposes.

I thought it sounded pretty snotty, just in my humble opinion.
