Was it sold with the plan that funds raised would benefit his museum? PB

Not getting hopes up, it has the ring of a Napa wine bid: over bid for charity.

    100246 would be a 1995, not a 94.

It would make sense for it to be a 1995, as that was the first year for US spec cars. The auction house listed it as 1994. Also, I don't believe this was a charity auction, so I am still wondering why this one went for more than double the estimate. Guess I have to buy Sports Car Market next month to find out.

There is a story here. What it is, one can only guess.

We all know what they are worth and love them for what they are. Fantastic cars, and bargains at that!

I think this is great news, now my car is worth more than I paid for it.
I can't sell. it is only going up!
I really like the car, and Winston and Nigel do too.
    We will stand pat.

Actually I'm thinking of selling mine!

EDIT: That list is full of typos. A 364 California, anyone? And they sold a 2005 612 for $330k??? That's considerably more than MSRP on a new one.

Coming Soon to a Ferrari Sale near YOU!

This is the most under-rated car in recent memory. Mine is 123346, a 2001 456 M GT and I'm keeping it for a very long time, thank you. These cars offer handling and performance that is way better than most drivers can ever achieve, it loves the road (and track BTW) offering experiences that can last a lifetime. For us over 5'8" and 175lbs it brings a Ferrari experience that is unequalled in most of the so-called-more-sought-after-Ferraris. I do recommend the higher technology and refinements of the M, and only in a 6 spd. This is the Daytona of the next decade.

Yeah, there seems to be a few typos. They said a Bugatti Veyron sold for $44,000 and a 250 California sold for almost 4.5 Million. That is one cheap Veyron if true, and that is a fairly expensive California Spider as they seem to be trading hands at around 1.5 Million, give or take a few hundred thousand.

I think the two-seater 550 Maranello fits that bill a lot better. But the 456s are great cars, no doubt about it.

I honor your 456 statements but love my hood scoops and tail wing .....could of had an M, opted for the older style.

and as for get em while you can: If I had the extra bread, I would be stockpiling this car :)

however, would have LOVED the wing shields....I don't car if it's not deserved, they are cool.

I think the 456 is not as noticed or admired as much as it should be -- though perhaps the owners enjoy that element of it. Earlier, there was a thread that showed a 456 on Novitec Rosso wheels. The car took on a whole new look of aggressiveness and balance with those on it...

Love reading all these old posts about the pleasures of owning the understated yet beautiful 456. I have had mine since May 2018 and still cant take my eyes off it. The Novitec NF2 wheels somehow lift the presence of the car. Not sure if they are the same as the Rosso wheels you refer to. Here are some pics anyway.

Even though my 348 is red, I'm generally a black car fan...but I must say red is THE hue for the 456. Stunning!!!

Did you get those wheels now somewhere or were they on the car when you bought it? They are the icing on the cake. I love the 456 too. There is an interview with Sergio Pininfarina in a YouTube video, where he comment that they are particulary proud of the 456 as this was a difficult task when they had to meet a lot of requests. Somehow, the 456M I had was faster than my 550 I have now in normal speeds because it has more low end torque. The 550 seems somewhat weaker at low revs, but really flies above 5000 rpm.

Hard to describe, but it's even nicer in person. I wanted a Rosso Corsa - I settled for Rosso barchetta for my 456 - always regretted that.

It was/is - but nothing looks like a 456 in Corsa...I'm convinced of it.

NF2s for the 360/Maranello/456 have been out of production for a while. My new set came from Germany several years ago. Now on a 456M.

I got those Novitec NF2 wheels from Maranello Motorsport in Melbourne. I think they were new in 2008 but still in great condition. Rears are 12.5" with Michelin 345/35/19. Fronts are 9" with 255/35/19.
