Up on e bay as of today.. starting bid $225K.... I know the history on this car quite well if anyone wants to contact me for details. [email protected]
This is RLA12046 or 046/150. Red/tan with red piping. It's 1 of @ 5 Canada-delivery cars built to USA spec, but with the desirable smooth dashboard and seatbelt motorized-rail delete. Shipped from Sant Agata to Lamborghini Canada on May the 31st, 1994. Sold as a new car with 191km on the clock to a Florida/USA collector, on whose behalf we later sold the car to another USA collector, so we have the car's original Lamborghini documentation on file. Extensive maintenance by USA Lamborghini specialist, currently has @ 2,141km on the clock.
I noticed the seatbelt is on the side of the rocker panel, makes sense now. Much nicer IMO since it doesn't scratch the transmission tunnel.

So why does a car with only 2,000km on it required an engine rebuild to the tune of $55k? These V12s are stout engines....
Wow, that looks really nice. Not being familiar with the SE, what is the little chrome toggle looking device to the left of the shifter do? Mike
because these cars root away if they just sit and are not driven...and this "extensive" work was done By George Evans almost 7 years ago. Since then it has hardly moved, so will need some money and work to make it drive-able and reliable. New tires for sure at the least.
The first registered owner is particularly fastidious about maintenance with all his cars, and elected to send the car to Evans "to make it perfect". Bear in mind, at this point, Evans had just completed a ground-up restoration of a Countach Downdraft for this same gentleman, so there was an existing relationship. Evans performed a blueprinting of the engine, with stainless steel valves, brass valve guides etc. We became involved with the car well after this work was completed, at 840 miles (1,351 kms) @ 2 years ago, simply because we had facilitated an F40 and F50 to that owner, and we sold it from the original USA owner to another USA collector whom we have previously sold an F40 and a CGT. The point was, in both cases the SE30 was thought to compliment those types of cars. Anyway, the current selling owner has used the car significantly, in the past 2 years he has added another @ 500 miles (800 kms), a not inconsiderable amount for a car like this, bringing the mileage to it's current point. I believe the car is being offered for sale solely because the owner is getting up there in age. FWIW, we have no affiliation with the current sale per se, we tried to buy the car back, it didn't work out, that said, we are very happy to see it being made available and can help anyone interested in the car make a deal happen as the car is now local to us, either way it belongs in an enthusiast home
The engine was fully rebuilt with all new pistons etc... At 800 miles? I don't think the owner's fastidious character had any thing to do with it. The cost was $55k, so no one would spend that for the fun off it. If the engine needed to be fully rebuilt it was to cure a major defect. There is no other conclusion. I see no problem with this. Stuff happens even on cars with delivery miles. Just get the story out and be clear with potential buyers.
That particular owner also elected to have his F40 and his F50 similarly refurbished with a viewpoint to preventative maintenance at similar expense for each car, this is well-established, and whilst I'm confident neither of those cars needed all the work, Ferrari were happy to perform it. Since there is some conjecture, Evans could easily clarify the purpose of the work he did to 046/150. As I already mentioned, we became involved with the car 2 years ago, @ 5 years after the work took place. We offered this car to you at $510,000 all-in, @ 1 year and 3 months ago, on July the 19th 2016 to be precise. I'm guessing that the current price will be more than $350k but less than $510k.
This car was offered to me at $400K very recently by the recent owner out of Sacramento, ( the one Joe sold it to last). I declined on the car. So it must have sold in that price neighborhood to the current Dealer OR they placed it on consignment with the current Dealer, I do not know which.
