Hey Guys, Been a long time since i've posted, but I constantly visit the site. Looking into getting my second Ferrari and just wondering what you guys felt would be a fair price for this car. Here are the details: '95 355 Spider R/T 14K Miles Full Major Service done about 6 months ago All '95 issues have been taken care of Thanks Chris
Maybe I missed it, but I think the color combination will affect these numbers. I would think anything in the mid-70s would be a very good deal. I know really good later models can still get over $90K.
Not a penny over 73k!!! I have seen 95's going for mid-high 60's!! I want a 355 and have been watching prices for 6 months now.
A mid $60's spider is going to be a very ratty car and or need full service. Just because you see some priced that low doesn't mean you want to own them.
I would say closer to 70K but I have my 96 spider listed for $77K and haven't had anyone so much as email me with questions. Now mine does have 37k miles on it and most on this board seem to be opposed to purchasing cars that have been driven! The one thing with a car with higher mileage is that most if not all of the issues have been well sorted and the nagging items have been taken care of.
Unless you are concerned with quickly selling the car, dont' shy away from something with a few miles on it. I would think that a 95 with all of the major issues sorted through: Headers Cats Major Done recently Dash / console Valve guides addressed PPI Complete service history Would go for mid-to high $70's in a second. I looked at three cars in the mid $60's just in the last few months and I wouldn't have wasted my mind. You absolutely get what you pay for.
I just bought my first Ferrari, '97 355 spider, black / beige - 11,000 miles, Tubi, recent (fresh) major service, perfect condition....totally documented and photographed full 30,000 service: $ 95,000 - I do not feel I paid too much after all the research but would like to know someone elses thoughts? Really, it too late now, I am so tickled about getting it I don't care but, would like to know. The dealer went above and beyond to insure everything on the car was perfect.. painted the nose, streched the leather around the passenger airbag etc... regardless - I feel like i am getting a deal!
Sounds like a great car. Post pics, enjoy the car, never look back. A premium is always paid to a dealer, but in return you get peace of mind!
$60k. 430 is starting to eat into the 360 and 355 liquidity, if not sticker yet. Expect 355s to drop soon.
I disagree. There are plenty of 355's around, but good sorted cars are hard to find. you should be able to get a '95 at a relative bargain if the issues have been taken care of, because of the "stigma" of the model year. And in the long run it will cost you much less than a '99 that ends up needing headers and cats. It sounds like mechanically it will be good, it does depend on the overall condition. People always want to feel like they got a good deal, even if it doesn't really matter. If you like the car and it is worth to you what you are paying for it, get it and don't think about it again. It's not an investment, it's a car. And a really, really fun car too!
have to agree with john, its all about you if you like it that's all that matters, and yes prices are coming down. if you not in a hurry and don't mind traveling you'll probably get your best deal and some good r&r. bought a 98 355 red spider in ca first week in nov 2005 for 75k 18k miles in great shape with belts done by a ferrari dealer in the previous 6months. plenty of tire kickers out there and when sellers know that you flew in or traveled good distances to look at the car much easier to negotiate also cash talks and bs walks. i live in nj bought my testarossa in maine and my 355 in ca. flew to boston, miami and kentucky in the last year to look at 355's be firm when talking to the owners and tell them straight up if you advertise perfect, it better be perfect or i won't be happy when i get there. they usually will tell you well it has a small this and that. rather then get into a beef when you get there and the embarrassment of being a liar. only problem i had was with a high end dealer in maryland, who wasted my time with a hunk of junk 308 i was interested in and i made a scene that i'm sure he regrets for wasting my time.
Maybe I am just getting cranky, but I want to call BS on this. (And I don't mean to pick on anyone in particular but this topic seems to come up all over the place in threads). I see posts where people say 355 Spider should go in the $60Ks (or really low $70Ks), I see posts where people say 360 Spider should go for $140Ks. But I NEVER see people post and say I bought a good car, good deal and have the numbers turn out anywhere near these ranges. Much more typical is like the above one for $95K where a buyer feels like he paid a bit of a premium, but got a good car. More power to him - I'd do the same. My question is this - If people are out there getting GREAT deals, why aren't they posting about them? There I said it! And by the way, a month ago I paid $163K for a pristine 360 Red/Tan/Spider with 7 K miles and feel like I got a FANTASTIC deal because I love the car and know its history. Sorry to vent.
I bought my 95 gts for $84,000 I have seen them advertised for low 70s, most of them were rats. My car was properly mantained and had Upgrades. ( challange grill , Tubi, 19" wheels ) as well as all the factory parts. You cant belive all you read in a e bay add. Get the car looked at by a dealer and make sure service records are in order. Or spend 60 for a car thats banged up and needs 20,000 in service. To eaches own.
Agreed. The best deal is the one with the lowest TCO (not initial cost) and the one that gives you the biggest smile you can affortd.
I had bought local F-cars recommended by my mechanics over the years and had very liimited items come up beyond maintenance - Got comfortable and bought a F355 Spider with records $10K below what others were going for 2 1/2 years ago - 2 1/2 years later and $15K+ in repairs I learned my lesson and bought a TR (full market price) recommended by my mechanic and no worries/problems. My experience in collecting cars, watches, vintage guitars, and firearms has taught me that the individuals can afford to buy the right quality piece and maintain it properly will not "give it away" later. MHO
I just PXd my '95 built Spider to trade and got £42.5k, roughly $73k. I think it would 've sold for a touch more if advertised privately.
Well put. I do expect the market for 355s to start to fall. They're not $100,000 cars anymore. Conversely, they're not $40k cars either!
I recently bought a 98 355 Spider F1 (Rosso & crema) from a dealer and paid £55,000 for it here in the UK. It had about 19000 miles on the clock, fresh service, belts, discs and pads, new sensors etc, and a ferrari warranty. The car well maintained by two previous owners. I was happy to pay for the peace of mind that the car had been throughly inspected and any obvious problems taken care of. I expect prices to drop further here in the UK but I suspect that the spiders and the F1 version will keep a little more value. But I'm whatching the prices of 360's here and they are staedily coming down. TomF
