I have been looking for a 456 and found one in Pittsburgh, Pa., black with tan interior, 17k miles, 6 speed, Tubi, some body scuffs and scratches. I believe I recall seeing some postings about this one, and some of them had warned potential buyers about some issues, but I cannot locate the messages. It seems to have been on the market for an extended period of time. Does anyone have any experience with this car that they could share? Thanks.

    Automatic or 5 speed???

I seem to recall an auto that had lived a hard life, that color.......

I like the 456 myself, but given values, it'll have to be a "ten out of ten"...

    Hi Neal

If this is the AutoPalace car stay away. I looked at this one when I was in the market last spring. Its been for sale for ever. It is an auction car with no paperwork.. nuff said! There are much better out there Like this one which looks awesome IMO from the pics one of the nicest 95's I have seen.

    Brian,
Thanks for the message. I absolutely love the car in the link you posted, but I have to tell you I can't take the color green. That model, however, is a real gem. [I had also noticed that the AutoPalace car has been for sale for ages.] Got any other leads?

Brian, have you seen the Maserati Quattroporte? Slightly larger interior, not quite as classic in style [but very nice], new car comes with a warranty, excellent handling and engine, bottom line price for a new car hardly much more than a vintage 456. Where is my thinking off-track here?

Be careful with the first year of production.

Sounds like good advice, Rijk, but are you referring to the 456 or the Quattroporte?

Probably for both, but more so on the 456

The US did not get 456s from the first year of production. The first year of 456 production was 1992, I believe, and the first year they came to the US was 1995. So no US cars are first year cars.

Mine is a 1995, and it doesn't seem to be any more problematical than later cars. Other 1995 owners I know have said the same thing.

You can make the argument that the 456M is superior, although to be honest the only real improvement I can see is remote unlocking, which I admit would be nice to have.

The Maser is indeed a beautiful car and has all the modern conveniances. It will most likely have significiant new car depreciation so factor that in also.

A someone said a Ferrari is a Ferrari and everything else isnt. At a certain point you dont try and justify it, you just do it. Do you really want to be driving around in the Maser always thinking in the back of your mind..what if?

Keep looking Neal. That perfect 456 is out there for you. Alot of the fun is in the hunt.

    Neal,
If you have not seen the verde silverstone in person, perhaps you should. I was not a 'green' car person either, but I got a verde silverstone 456, and I am very happy with it.

There is another green out there, metallic, I think. Now, I got a real problem with that shade of green.

If you want something better looking (opinion), more reliable, just as fast is not faster, a warranty, and all the modern conveniences just get the Maserati QP. You will not be dissapointed. Unless you have to have a 456, shop around some more.
